I doubt they'd buy them out. Rissmiller has been in the AHL the last 2 years, so he won't count during the season anyway. And if we buy out Voros, his buyout cap hit plus what it will cost to replace him will probably be over 1 mil, actually costing us money, on top of carrying a cap hit for him next year.

If we want to get rid of them, they can be traded or play in the AHL. Voros can be replaced by Weise or Byers, saving us 300k or more.

What's the deal if we buyout brashear?
Buying out Brashear does not change his cap hit because he's on a 35+ contract. He'd get less actually money on a buyout, but the cap hit would remain the same.

Squishy had a good point on twitter:

Quote:
Don't want rotten apples w/the kids. They sent Rissmiller off to Grand Rapids for that reason. May not be possible this season
I'll also include the string that followed because it amused me:

Elliott Friedman basically making the same point as Squishy:
Quote:
@NYP_Brooksie Don't want those players near your prospects
Brooks's response:
Quote:
@FriedmanHNIC Nonsense. Rissmiller has been there two yrs. Voros is best guy around.
Squishy following up:
Quote:
Rissmiller was shipped to Grand Rapids last yr cause he was cancer RT @NYP_Brooksie: @FriedmanHNIC Nonsense. Rissmiller has been there 2 yrs

Oh, Brooksie...

Oh, Brooksie...
I could understand it for Rissmiller and maybe Brashear, but Voros seems to be liked among the players, and for half his salary I'd gladly have him as 12th/13th forward.

according to Capgeek

buying out Voros = $400k cap hit
buying out Rissmiller = $333k cap hit
Brashear isn't on their list for some reason. Maybe you can't buy out vet contracts?

you can buy him out, but the cap hit is $1.4M regardless.

though it will save them some actual $.

I would rather just bury them in the minors and take no cap hit but I have no idea what they are going to do

I still think they are going to deal Brashear for Vandermeer or something like that.

except because of his age, the cap will count no matter what. the best you can hope for is to assign him to the ECHL and have him breach his contract and leave for the KHL. I don't even want him taking up a roster spot in HFD blocking one of our kids' development.

Why put them on waivers then?Which stupid team is claiming them?

ECHL?Only entry level players can be assigned to the ECHL without their permission.

Perhaps to let them know that they're not in our plans? i.e. Let them find another team to play for (KHL).

Also, would waiving them now have anything to do with our ability to waive them later in the summer, i.e. during training camp? I don't recall exactly but I think I may have read something to that effect.

CLB needs some veteran leadership for their young forwards and defensemen. Good move IMO for them. They attempted a move last year to shore up their leadership by bringing in Chris Clark as well. Something they are seeing in their locker room is bothering them obviously.

Maybe I'm in the vast minority, but I like what Voros brings to the table. I would rather keep him on the squad. Whether it be a bottom 6 role or a reserve.

As for Rissmiller... lolz.

so Preissing was bought out and Vandermeer went to Edmonton

anychance the Islanders take back 2.4 million in Voros and Brashear for Witt at 3 million?

Perhaps both teams give them chances to make it out of camp. Rangers could use a 6/7 Dman even though Witt likely goes down for cap reasons

Isles lost Jackman do they have a tough guy? Voros and Brashear could help and they need salary to hit the ceiling no?
