i could see both being bought out to clear $1m cap space this off-season.
I doubt they'd buy them out. Rissmiller has been in the AHL the last 2 years, so he won't count during the season anyway. And if we buy out Voros, his buyout cap hit plus what it will cost to replace him will probably be over 1 mil, actually costing us money, on top of carrying a cap hit for him next year.
If we want to get rid of them, they can be traded or play in the AHL. Voros can be replaced by Weise or Byers, saving us 300k or more.
What's the deal if we buyout brashear?
Buying out Brashear does not change his cap hit because he's on a 35+ contract. He'd get less actually money on a buyout, but the cap hit would remain the same.
I would rather just bury them in the minors and take no cap hit but I have no idea what they are going to do
I still think they are going to deal Brashear for Vandermeer or something like that.
except because of his age, the cap will count no matter what. the best you can hope for is to assign him to the ECHL and have him breach his contract and leave for the KHL. I don't even want him taking up a roster spot in HFD blocking one of our kids' development.
Why put them on waivers then?Which stupid team is claiming them?
Perhaps to let them know that they're not in our plans? i.e. Let them find another team to play for (KHL).
Also, would waiving them now have anything to do with our ability to waive them later in the summer, i.e. during training camp? I don't recall exactly but I think I may have read something to that effect.
CLB needs some veteran leadership for their young forwards and defensemen. Good move IMO for them. They attempted a move last year to shore up their leadership by bringing in Chris Clark as well. Something they are seeing in their locker room is bothering them obviously.
