Wow he just said him and his agent were looking at Montreal for a possible destination.

He has already spoken to PG, and he says there is a real possibility that he will be a Hab

Dan Ellis : Was a Habs fan when he was young, and would be an honor to wear the Jersey

His family is really excited about this move and possibility.

Dan Ellis: I want to play on a team that Wins. I don't mind playing on a solid team to compliment a starting young goalie.

Wow I really like our odds with this guy!

I said it yesterday and today I am even more convinced, this guy will be a Hab and getting him alone for Sergei is a steal, let alone Boyd too. The way he has reacted to the trade and the comments he has made about our organization and our fans and about playing time ... this guy is made for the Habs. He will fit right in with our leadership group, team first guy.

I can say right now, and coming from me that's a big statement.....I'd be sending the 5th pick to Nashville MYSELF if we sign this guy. I might even suggest names to the Preds....

I'm not all that excited about signing him. If money works out - great, but I hope we don't overpay.

Well he said he doesn't mind playing a back up role on a team that Wins, with a Young goalie, its common sense you don't pay 5 million to a back up, so I think we can really work something out here.

Yes, I heard everything he said. He sounds like a fit and all, I just hope PG does not overpay for his services. If he's willing to sign a short term deal for 2mil or so, I'm more than happy to have him. Significantly north of that, I might not be as pleased however. I mean, I saw some people mention 3mil for 3/4 years. If that happens I will shoot myself.

The Hosts on the XM radio station say that with his interview, his attitude, etc... makes him a great fit for this team. And Ellis said that even if a deal doesn't get done 2night it does not mean he wont go to Montreal after July 1st.

Don't know how much of it is for show, but sounds awesome if he's sincere about this. I'd rather a goalie with an upside to cover for Price and give him a bit a push rather than signing someone who's really at career's end. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief around here, I think it benefits Price to have someone around who might mentor him but also really keep him on his toes.

Oops....shouldn't we be a little afraid of that? I understand that he can and I also believe that because the Habs traded for him, the least he could do past July 1st would be to give the Habs the last chance to make him an equivalent offer to what he would have elsewhere....but that's where it cannot go. There's a lot of chance that it would go to something we wouldn't be able to offer. I do envision the Flyers giving him 3M$ + and we can't go there.

Summary:

Montreal was a team he and his agent were looking at looking at
Spoke to Gauthier about his possible role in Montreal
Is it possible you sign with the Canadiens: Absolutely
Many people dream of wearing the jersey, would be an honor to wear it
Grew up in norhtern ontario, only four hours away from his family
His parents told him about all the stuff he could do in Montreal and being close to them.
His wife and kids are excited, so is he
If he can play on a team that wins, that what's important
The title is not what's important, rather how much you can help the team
Nice to be a starter, but winning the Stanley cup is the main the goal
Said at first if he goes to FA, he could maybe go back to Nashville, then he said probably not since the writing is on the wall with the signing of Pekka Rinne
Really hopes something can work out.
