Turco's puck moving would definitely help the D out. He's also good at "accidentally" pushing the net off its moorings at the most opportune times.

Who knows, maybe he'll be rejuvenated playing for a Cup contender (may seem laughable with the current D).

Of course his other pipe dream (before Leighton was snatched up) is Ellis over Turco.

And him telling me that our rookie goalies are the main guys in net for us, I just shake my head. like this :

This really sucks. I've spent years yelling at Turco because I can't stand him, his pretty gold pads, and the way he wanders out away from the net. If he's in teal, then I'm still going to boo him, and I hope he gets injured during the preseason. This is akin to getting Steve Ott or Corey Perry in teal! Perhaps I'll cancel my tickets over this...

this is my bet too, there's nothing that says 1.5=starter, there are some good backups that got near that(lalime=1m for example). Flyers want improved goaltending, and it sounds like leighton wasn't getting many serious offers because of his past and because of his mediocre playoff series against chicago. I still think there's a big chance nabby signs there, unless nabby wants to play with his fellow russian buddies in washington but they probably can't offer him as good of an offer.

I would LOVE to have Perry in the Sharks uniform. The man understands what to do in the playoffs. He actually GOES TO THE NET. Get a player like that, we win the Cup (with one additional top-4 dman).

They'll be pretty teal pads.

And you would love Ott on your team. He works hard, doesn't back away.from physical contact and isn't a complete neanderthal. If his salary wasn't ridiculous, he'd be a solid asset.

I agree. Like Big Buff, he's one of those guys you hate until he's on your team.

wow, aren't you overreacting?

This team got Ville Nieminen who went spear happy in the 04 WCFs and Shelley who destroyed Brad Stuart's career as a Shark, but now you want to cancel your tickets because you don't like Marty Turco....

give me a break

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Greiss take the reigns next year but I don't think he's quite ready yet. We need a veteran goalie in net that can help teach Greiss with their experience as well as be someone for him to compete with for the starting position.

I also personally don't want Turco either but he seems like a very likely option at the moment.

DW still has time to change his mind:

All indications are that goaltender Dan Ellis will be going to market tomorrow. Doesn't preclude MTL as a destination but opens it up.
Ellis is cheaper, dude!

I don't know how I would feel if I was at the opening game and during the starting line-up it was "Maaaaarrrrrrrty Tuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrcccccccoooooooooooooooooo"

If we can keep him in his crease a bit more maybe, but I don't know.

I'm still partial to Nitty

He's also the same poster who advocated moving Seto and Wallin for (Kaberle?) as sacrifice just to get rid of Wallin.

Everything that particular poster says will henceforth be taken with a rather large mound of salt

I'd love for Niitty or Mason to be our starter. I wouldn't mind Turco, but I'd definitely take one of the other two before him.

well, Turco really sucks when he plays at the Staples Center from what I've seen, but that's just one building. thinking about it he's probably the Sharks best bet with his experience and I'm sure instant respect he will have in the locker room being a veteran.

there have been some really good comments regarding his puckhandling skills behind the net which is a bonus; at the top in the league.

Turco in my view is the Sharks best bet at this point unless there is a trade option!

Just out of curiosity, who would people prefer?

Turco or Toskala

Ellis still going UFA according to McKenzie.

I think he may be cheaper than Turco and every penny will count...

I will guarantee the sharks don't sign Ellis for the following reason:

Doug Wilson has stated several times he wants a veteran goalie (Mason or Turco) who's had experience as a #1, as well as someone who can mentor Greiss.

Ellis is a young unproven goalie, who yes would be cheap, but doesn't meet those standards.
