Just got word that the #Habs plan on making a pitch for Torres tomorrow, still checking on that.

I don't think HF considers Dallas Dave a legit source.

At the right price(4 mil for 2 years or thereabouts), he could be a decent addition on the 3rd line.

we can only really fit one more guy in the bottom 6, if we want torres, boyd is gone, and vice versa.

I thought he was considered a lock to sign with the Leafs.

Meh.

He doesn't shoot a lot, hits a decent amount, not too special and he doesn't really score a lot minus his 27 goal season in 05-06.

I'd prefer Armstrong, but Torres ain't bad, if the price is low...

I figured we'd have Travis Moen the lawn.

I hope you mean Fernando Llorente Torres. At 6'5 he's the perfect forward we've been looking for and he has a good head on him.

He's the one who broke the Lethonen trade.

Unfortunate, because double D has a much better % of legit stuff than some of the other crappy sites that are considered sources.

Well, he's as legit as they come. What happens with Pacioretty if we sign Torres longterm?

That would be great because there is one UFA I really want here, and his name is TORRES! I wanted Moen last year, and we got Moen. I wanted Mara, we got Mara. Now, I want Torres. Hopefully, he won't be dumb enough to join the leafs. He is precisely what we need along the boards: a big player that can skate... and score 20 goals.

I've always kind of liked Torres... but there's a certain streakiness to him, and you can only really like him when he's on, and you're not watching him everyday, and you can gloss over the absences? Maybe? He can hit, he can chip in goals. But while he doesn't look anything like Latendresse, I think he has some of the same traits as a player. If you aren't willing to ride out the cold stretches, you'll find him trending to the doghouse. Maybe?

Anyway, at the right price and term, I'd still take him. But this is UFA land, and we really only have money for 1 signing left. He probably gets a premium on price and term that I wouldn't be willing to sign up to. Although the way he finished out the season, it's not inconceivable that everybody will mark him down and he'll end up on the leftover heap. Wait for that, in case it happens, but don't look at him on July 1-2...

I would like to see Torres, while he had a tough end to the season; I think that he could split time between the second and third lines. He still scored 19 goals last year and could be a 15-25 goal scorer in Montreal. If he is willing to stand in front of the net and give the body hard I think he could make a big difference with the Habs...I would go so far as to say that if Torres is signed, Andrei will be shown the door.

It's unbelievable how every time there's a thread about a new player to Montreal all I ever see is " if we sign X Andrei is gone"
