Staal is overrated on this board. Can you name another "#1" dman who hardly ever plays on the PP and wasn't in the conversation to make his olympic team? He's a very nice player with alot of potential. Let's not act like he's Brian Leetch. On top of that, he's trying to play hardball on his contract, which never ends well here.

**** that.... Staal is a known success who will get better. Pick is still a risk

Better be a VERY good roster player if Staal is involved. AND the pick

There's a strong rumour of Reghr - Savard trade, so probably Bruins are the said team, not Rangers. Something's going on in Calgary, anyhow.

Yeah, I mean, its not like im all for trading Staal, but a potential lottery pick + a good roster player and I at least think about it. So I'll redact my "heartbeat" statement.

Savard hasn't been asked to waive his NTC.

Wait, what do you mean 'if Redden is going away'? Going away in the trade? Or going away to the AHL?

Who cares? He just needs to gtfo. I don't care if fairys come down and sprinkle flying dust on him and he floats off over the Verrazano.

staal was a first, you know that right? the draft pick obsession is really getting crazy. Lets trade our former first round pick that is on his way to becoming a top defenseman for the chance to maybe get somebody that will develop as well as he did.

I agree (the entire civilized world agrees!) but that was not the point of my post. NikC said he was ok with Staal for Bouwmeester and a draft pick if Redden goes away. I'm wondering what he meant by 'going away'.

Come on man.
Its just a hunch and if staal is traded what do you hf prospect junkies want coming back a 1st round pick and two prospects? Or a guy who is already a #1 defenseman? Jesus this is getting so ****in ridiculous.

this rumor doesn't make sense... Calgary has nothing that we need. No decent centers except for Iginla who is too old, and no decent wingers. Are we trading to get Kotalik back?

Have you watched J-Bo? Hes not a #1 Dman and hes singed long term for big money.

No offense, but your hunch is completely irrational.

Why is everyone speculating Boumeister? I'm just curious because I haven't seen anything about him being on the way out.

I don't think this involves us... why aren't we setting up for a press conference too? We are in a media capital. But just guessing if it is us, I think Dubinsky and Roszival going the other way for a lower total cap hit, middle of the road player like Bourque. And this is probably wishful thinking but I can see Drury in the mix. Probably stupid though.

I wouldn't believe that tweet for a second. Callahan to Flames on the other hand is interesting....

I can see something revolving around Renee Borque and Callahan.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Are you saying you would trade Staal for Bouwmeester and a second or third?

Why on earth would the Rangers move Callahan?

Don't you think Torts would kill Glen if he even proposed this to him?

And who, pray tell, would be our shut down D guy? Staal's developing perfectly into that role. We have NO reason to ever trade a player like that. By the time we drafted/developed someone to be his replacement, it will be 2015.

He must be signed, and must not be traded. Period.

Callahan rumored to be going to Calgary, se link in the thread over at the rumor board. Only way that even remotely could make sense is if it was something like drury and cally for Iginla.
