$2.5 mil is kinda steep, but he'll fit AWESOME on our bottom 6.

How is 2.5 a bit overpayment for Manny Malhotra? Colby Armstrong isn't much better, and he got 3 million per.
Edit: I take that back. Armstrong isn't better at all.

Maybe 500k too much, but he'll be great on our third line. Makes us tougher to play against.

i'd say we overpaid for quality on our bottom 6. 2.5/per and a NTC is steep for a 3rd liner.
we used to think bernier was overpaid in our bottom 6... we basically trade that for someone who has always been expected to be nothing more than a bottom 6 (while bernier was always thought to have the potential to play top 6)

surprised he's getting 3yrs, with Gillis wanting young guys to push for roster spots... and $2.5mill/yr seems too high IMO.

Seems like a good deal. We have the cap space so why not? For a team with cap space issues I could understand how this could be a bad deal, but for Canucks? Perfect.

This is the kind of guy we really, really need in our bottom 6.
Think of it this way - he cost 500k more than Bernier

Brutal, brutal signing. Not happy with this at all. If Hodgson makes the team (you have to assume he will at some point over the next 3 years) we have a 4th line centre making 2.5million AND with an NTC?
Just as bad as the Armstrong signing. Just an awful headscratcher.

This will be a great fit and Malholtra will anchor our third line and solidify the PK...but I hope this deal doesn't bite us down the road, especially with that NTC. Maybe it's just a limited NTC?

Can win faceoffs, plays the PK and understands his role in the NHL...
I will take it even if it puts us under some pressure for the cap.
PLUS - He isn't on SJ anymore...
