I've been saying we're getting Niittymaki since the start and I still believe it!

He sure signed quickly and for very little. Possible that Gauthier was not into him.

Completly stupid. Biron said he would love to play here as number 2. There would have not been any controversy.

Seriously there is no reasons the habs were not able to come here at that price$$

Pretty sure that nobody believes that they are actually starting to see what's out there for them ONLY at 12. Before it officially starts, they already know the teams interested or close to it.

Damn.

Looks like Ellis won't be able to get 2M$ on the market. With Leighton at 1.5M$ and Biron under 1M$, I guess he will sign anywhere but in Montreal for around 1.5M$....

hear my words folks. We will not sign FRENCH goalie to back up C.Price. Because, Habs management don't want make any controversy if Price couldn't handle the pressure.

Price's "success" will depend upon the play of Price - not on who is or who is not his backup.

Time for Carey to mature - on and off the ice!

Not counting on Carey to be a great goalie - hope he proves me wrong!

From Biron:

Habs were NOT interested in him.

Source: RIS right now.

Agreed with the comments on the French backup. No matter who he is we know the fans will jump on his bandwagon as soon as Price has a weak game. Thats what i understand by surrounding Price in an environment he can succeed in. We support all players through good and bad.

With no other team do the fans, media and potentially management get affected by the ethnic background of one of our players....."play one of the hometown boys please"

Back-up to Lundqvist is the easiest job in the league. He's gonna sit on his ass all season long and enjoy NYC.

I wonder if Montreal even offered him anything?

Why would we want him? He is not a good goalie.

I bet PG put all his eggs in the Ellis basket and didn't even bother calling any other FA, so Biron walks of course. Why the heck would he wait for a team that isn't showing any signs of interest. We'll end up with whoever wasn't offered anything by other teams. (Lalime)
