The problem is that he just doesn't bring enough on the ice. He's an absolute monster out there in other areas, just not a good enough pure hockey player.
I dont like the money or the term, but due to the overpayment that Shelly got from the Flyers, we needed to pay more, free market. Boo is younger I believe, at 28 (Could be wrong) and is a menace on ice...we'll have to see how this pans out
I don't know, he is one of the better fighters in the league. But I wonder if he can bring the same energy as Shelly did.
Correct... He may even be the best fighter in the league. But I don't see the energy coming from him like it came from Shelley. And I doubt he's as good a lockerroom guy as Shelley was.
Pure, fighting yes. And if he can get in position, he can make some absolute monster hits. He also is fine with intimidating the other team.

If you're going to pay a guy to be tough, pay the toughest guy. Gotta figure we're getting rid of Voros, who got a million bucks a year to get ragdolled on a nightly basis. Isn't it worth the extra 650k to have a guy who can actually win?
I don't like the money... but since Brashear is still under contract, I would like to have Boogaard do NOTHING but beat the **** out of Brashear for the entirety of training camp.
I dont know how any rangers fan can defend this deal. The term AND the money are horrible for somebody who is quite frankly, a bad hockey player. He can fight and literally do nothing else.
