Whats your point?
Hamrlik is off the books after this year is he not? Also...Hamrlik was acquired 3 years ago, and Gomez last year.

Again...neither kovalev or gonchar are terrible players, they're still two very good players. But they look more like specialists at this at this point in their careers...and that's fine, I just think that's a steep price to pay for a PP dimension

Gonchar is not a PP specialist. He facilitates team's offense. Ottawa struggles to get the puck out of their own end and he fixes that. Their goal scoring will go up because of his good outlet pass.

agreed...but I think with Karlsson and Kuba already there, that aspect had been covered IMO.

Karlsson made a HUGE difference for the Sens puck movement last year and Kuba is also fairly good at that, I just think Gonchar is overkill when you consider that they're losing Volchenkov.

Again, Gonchar is a very good player who despite his salary, WILL help the Sens...I just think money would of been more well invested in acquiring a dman like Michalek (a natural fit with his bro already there) or even Paul Martin.

Again...Karlsson + Kuba + Gonchar is great offensively, but defensively? on a team with huge question marks in front of goal??? I don't know man...

It's not a TERRIBLE move, but it's not a wise one IMO...

Kovalev is off the books after this season too, FYI.

Gomez is still on board for 4 more years at what is probably one of the worst value cap hits in the league, where as Gonchar's is much more lite and it's up in 3.

Take it for what it's worth, I like Gomez and I think at 5M per season he'd be a great piece to our team.

I dont know if Gomez is one of the worst value cap hits in the league...he's not a useless player, overpaid sure, but he plays on our #1 line, kills penalties, plays PP, and plays 20+ mins a game (or near there).

a bad value contract is a contract like Wade Redden...6.5M for a #5-6 dman. Sure, Gomez is overpaid (most players are) but he's not useless.

Again, I don't mind the signing of Gonchar for the Sens...just don't think it's what they needed.

Hamhuis, Michalek, Martin even Tallinder (a natural with Karlsson there IMO) would of been much cheaper/better options than Gonchar at that money and his age.

On paper I know it sounds like a good deal but I think they made a big mistake.

On paper it's basically Volchenkov for Gonchar.

Have fun in the post season when they guys allowing more goals to happen than he's getting and he's basically a total liability.

To be honest I know what he can bring to a team, but I know what he can take away from a team too, defensive responsibility.

Would never want this player in a habs jersey for that reason. Just like I don't want MAB back.

Risky contract IMO because of age and GP in last two seasons. And the last thing about Gonchar I remember was the color commentating crew commenting on his effort or in his case lack thereof during the 7th game.

Wow that's quite overpaid. If it would have been more than 3 years, I would be rolling on the floor right now.
