Would have liked him back with Habs for a year and 1.7.

Isn't that more than Tanguay made last year?
EDIT: Guess he made $2.5M last year.

I'm a little surprised at how nicely that worked out for Tanguay. He's good and he deserves it, just that I could have imagined him falling back even further after his last couple seasons of adversity.

it was true that A.Tanguay refused the long term contract when he was with the Habs? ( something about more than 3 mill? )

I'm surprised Tanguay got 1.7 mil...but the forward UFA market is very weak this year.

Calgary is kind of like ice cream, they get softer by the minute. i feel bad for them, not so long ago i thought they were close to cup contention and jerome was untouchable. Now im wondering what it would take to get iginla out of there in a trade.

if the price is good, i always believed he was a great penalty killer, it would save some pk time from plek.

I still think Tanguay is an elite scorer, not so far off from Cammy (who swapped places in Calgary before). All that talk about being soft is just a tiny snowball that got bigger and bigger. Everyone forgets how talented he was when playing with Kovy and Saku. Injuries happen. Some you can play through, others just make you useless. Markov wouldn't have been more helpful than MAB after his injury...well...bad example. Tanguay would be great to have at that price right now.
Anyway, I have faith in Pouliot, AK and Eller and even though they are supposedly unproven or have lost their desire to play, we are doing a lot by not changing too much. Like last year, I'm pumped for this upcoming season, perhaps even more knowing what we're capable of (and yes I think Price is going to get the job done and that we are not going to be a defensive shell team again...we needed a year to gel).
