I dont think what Cox meant was for there to never be a draft. I didnt see it, but i would assume that Cox meant the whole thing should be done via conference call instead of making it a televised event. That being said Im no fan of Damien Cox.
You don't need the draft and hopefully this cancellation will mean there is never another one.
It's too bad his kids are probably too young to realize how daddy puts the food on the table. He's a disgrace. If you can't do your job with dignity and purpose, go find a meaningful role in society and do something worthwhile.
That goes out to all the pathetic "journalists", Steve Simmons, Al Strachan, etc... these guys are no better than tabloid writers.
He puts food on TABLES. A few years ago he was sued for paternity and ended up losing his wife in the process. Damien Cox is nothing but a wannabe. He had big league dreams, little league talent, and a rat sized brain. The guy is a tool who cheapshots guys and picks fights in beer league games.
First off the Toronto Sun is Canada's version of the National Inquirer, therefore it is a tabloid (if you think not i suggest you pick up a copy and read some of the ridiculous stuff they publish) however if you do consider it a newspaper it is definately far far behind the more informative papers like The Globe, The Star or THe National Post.
Second, Damien Cox is an idiot. After cancelling the NHL season a draft is exactly what the NHL needs, lets face it they can use any exposure they can get and what better way to do that then to showcase the future of the sport. The NHL will continue to televise the draft and us as fans will continue to watch it.
While this may be true, you have to admit Cox is giving Strachen a run for his money as the worst hockey analyst in TO...
It's had to be a one trick pony durring the lockout. It's a darn shame the greatest hockey town doesnt have ANY decent hockey reporters.
...a person can get only so many scoops from the ACC janitoral staff durring a lockout. ("an inside source told me...")
