Ellis is a young unproven goalie, who yes would be cheap, but doesn't meet those standards.
yeah, but you're also forgetting that Turco is a big name, while Ellis isn't. And DW loves big names.

1. Ellis is 30

2. If he wanted someone to mentor Greiss and company he should have just kept Nabby or he could actually hire a decent goalie coach and call it a day.

Ellis is 30...Although he has only been through 3 seasons in the nhl.

and btw I don't recall ever hearing anything like that directly from DW...He's actually been very hush about the whole thing. (let alone saying something like that SEVERAL times.)

Hey, maybe some bright orange pads would distract the other team?

Well, we have a point of reference for today at least:

According to Philly Sports, linked from THN about the Turco to Flyers rumours, it says:

Quote:
With similar stats, the same age and a much better record, Nabokov was reportedly seeking no less than $4.5 million per season. He earned $6 million with the Sharks this year.
We know that Wilson perceives that to be economically unviable (or perhaps, he's politely saying we no longer have faith in you...)

It will be intriguing to see what Turco or whoever replaces Nabby gets. If the $2.9m is as reported, to me $1.6m doesn't seem like a huge amount of cap to save, not least because Pavelski and Marleau have already more than consumed that in their pay rises...

I think Chris Mason will have a shot with the Sharks.

I called it the day before.
