Kreider ready to turn pro?

Quote:

Sather did mention both McDonagh and Kreider as prospects who have impressed this week and who he thinks are ready to make jump 4 #NYR

@ChrisBottaNHL was surprised he said Kreider already; he's only 19 with one year at BC; but he said "it's up to him if he wants to come out"

@ChrisBottaNHL Kreider now weighs 220, is explosively fast, and has had great mini camp; but think he's turning pro next year, for sure
Do you think hes ready?

I think he could transition to the AHL this year quite easily and have a pretty decent season. However, I don't think he's quite ready to jump straight to the NHL.

Regardless, I think he wants to go back for another season at BC.

Ditto. I remember him being very adament about spending some time at BC.

I think he could use some time in the AHL. Let him, Stepan, and Grachev play a season/half season together then start bringing them up.

He hasn't dominated in college, so going back certainly wouldn't hurt him. No need to rush him anyway (although it would be nice having our future offensive prospect core with Stepan, Grachev and Kreider playing together in the AHL )

One more year. He needs to work on his defensive game and more ice-time in general.

Contracts are earned in real camp, not some rookie tourny where he is playing against other kids his age or younger.

I think he would miss classes and thus lose his NCAA eligibility.

No, he could play in the AHL since he wasn't drafted out of the CHL. Age doesn't matter ofr these players (they have to be 18, but every drafted player is that old when the AHL season starts)

That wasn't my point, and I think he could go to the AHL. Kyle Turris did.

That would be amazing. I think by the end of the year, that line would be unstoppable.

i'm very happy about this, how Kreider is progressing. what makes me even happier is that we really dont need to rush him and after another year in BC he'll be even more mature and even more ready for the NHL. Back to boston for a year and then lets take it from there glen.

I'd watch every single AHL game if the three of them were down there.

Because those 3 are arguably our best 3 forward prospects we have had at any time over the last 10 years, and have the potential to all play on the same line.

they do have the potential to be unstoppable in hartford. It is, however, the potential and not a state of fact.

I agree, I think it's best he goes back to college this year. No need to rush this kid a long, esp if he is on track which he does seem to be.

BC should compete for another national championship this season. They are returning all of their forwards except 3(Smith,Lombardi and Price). It's a really good team. Unlike Wisconsin which is in shambles.

Three of the top 22 prospects in the world all on the same line? It would take Stepan and Kreider time to adjust, but we saw how quickly they both adjusted at the NCAA level. They both exceled in the WJC and Kreider did well in the WC.

Maybe it wouldn't all come together for them within one year, but I wouldn't bet against it.

What a loaded statement. You my friend should get a job with the Rangers PR department. How could Grachev be considered in that catagory when he couldn't score 20 goals in the minors? Hell he barely put up 20 points. If this guy struggles again he could find himself in the ECHL. I wasn't away top 20 prospects in the world played there.

hed probably struggle like Grachev did last year. I think he still has a lot to learn at that level before moving up.

Thats just me though.

The kid is 19 and that physically built already? 220? If true that shows some kind of work ethic.
