Comparing the Ins and Outs

If we look at it this way, what's your impression?

(Out) --> (In)
Kostitsyn --> Eller
Moore --> Boyd
Halak --> Auld

how can you compare Kostitsyn with Eller?

have you ever seen Eller play a complete game?

EDIT: ok, it could make a little bit sense...

It's

Eller vs Moore

Boyd vs Metropolit

anyways, there are cap issues involved too, which makes an Auld vs Halak comparison silly

I prefer Eller to Sergei. Quite a bit. We will start to see it very soon on the ice.

Boyd is a younger version of Moore, less experienced, but will probably be with us longer, and he is also cheaper. On the ice, Moore is better for now but that might change in the near future.

Big step backwards in the nets, of course. The Habs' hope is not that Auld replaces Halak, but that Price steps up and plays as well as Halak would have played had he stayed. If that happens, the harm is a lot less, obviously. But it's a huge risk, IMO. If the rumours are true about what was offered to us, I would have dealt Price to St. Louis, and got back Eller and also a better player than Schultz, and kept Halak.

But in reality, both St. Louis and Montreal valued Price higher than Halak.

Meh, just looking at some Ins and Outs

My 2 cents, risky downgrade in goalies no question; Eller is a better piece for us than poor pariah Sergei. I liked Moore a lot, dunno if Boyd will be better.

Forgot about Metro (lamarde our PP takes a hit hehehe)

To compare the in vs out we should do so collectively as a group, or by position

If Eller (the in) is going to be our 3rd line center (or that's the hope) than we should compare him to Moore (the out) who was the 3rd line center last year.

We also did not acquire anyone who is directly replacing Sergei.

edit: also, cap hit should be considered: example - in nets. Yes, we might be weaker with Price - Auld vs Halak - Price, but it's also 3.5 - 4 Million cheaper.

Moore was a very valuable asset for us, lets pray Eller is ready to replace him properly centering the third line.. Ive no prob with Boyd replacing Metro on the fourth.
