Kevin Bieksa

Hey. Canucks fan here. I know you guys struck out on getting a D man today. Would you be interested in Kevin Bieksa? If you guys do sign Kovalchuk the piece I was thinking coming back the other way might be Oscar Moller? Would a Bieksa for Moller deal work for you guys? Would we have to add? Do you even want Bieksa?

It seems to make sense... although it appears as though the Kings would be doing Vancouver a favor by taking on an inflated salary. I personally like Bieksa, played for my alma mater, and he's the type of player the Kings could use on the blueline.

I'd rather see how things play out in camp with the young guys, plus I don't really want Bieksa.

I'd rather have Kubina, who will probably be cheaper. It's not a bad idea by any stretch but Bieksa's contract is long and hefty for what he brings to the table. We could use him though, and I'd have no problem with it.

LOL, I was looking at Ballard's contract. Forget that! Yeah, I'd take Bieksa. Only one year before UFA though.

Bieksa would look great on the blueline, especially with only a year left on his deal. Make him audition for a contract next season while allowing all of the D prospects another year to develop.

Kovalchuk and Bieksa out of this off-season while giving up minimal assets, outside of cap space, would be effing fantastic. You address the 5-on-5 scoring, speed, puck moving defenseman and toughness/edge issues with those two guys on top of the continued maturity of the current Kings and those in the pipeline.

I'm just going to warn you guys. If Bieksa didn't play better with a change of scenery, you'd hate him. He's one of the most frustrating players ever, but he seems to have a good reputation amongst other fans. Other teams seem to want him.

He seems physical, but he doesn't get engaged enough. It's frustrating as hell. He plays INCREDIBLY casual sometimes.

He doesn't produce as much offense as he should.

He's one of the STUPIDEST hockey players you'll ever see. He ROUTINELY makes the absolute dumbest pinches. I'm talking "team is on the power play, other D man has already committed into the zone" pinches that give up shorthanded 2 on 0's.

He's so bad .

Eh I wasn't impressed with him in the playoffs. It seemed like he was trying too hard.

He'd be better than nothing but there's still at least 3 UFA d-man I'd rather pursue as well as other potential trade targets.

Thank-you for confirming Cutty's nailing it, and also for CCF coming clean on Bieksa. I'm a King's fan in Vancouver, and I also feel we do not "need" a d-man out of free agency (especially a Bieksa at 3.75), we need left wingers.

i would take him. he plays in all situations. hes not affraid to drops the gloves. he has some offensive upside when he plays a full season. if he can just stay away from skate blades he could put up some good numbers like he did in his second season.

The return of Tom Preissing.
Sorry, Tom Preissing with less talent - but more of an attitude about it.
And there's NO way I'd give up Moller - a highly regarded prospect - for a stiff on the blue line. We have a fantastic pipeline of kids waiting for a chance to play, and there are a number of free agent D available. There's no reason to give up Moller for this loser.

Should try to sign Mitchell instead, short term.

I would love to add both Bieksa and Mitchell. Yes, I know Mitchell's a ufa. Heck, I don't even mind O'Brien.

It all depends on the price for Bieksa.

Wait... is Moller still a prospect.... Let alone a highly regard prospect? I don't think he was even highly regarded a couple years ago.
