According to Eklund:

Quote:
"According to multiple sources tonight, ilya Kovalchuk has asked for the evening to decide whether to accept or reject a deal from the LA Kings. Meanwhile, sources tell me that the NJ Devils are still in the running, and a "third team from the east" who has asked for some time to put together their best deal....more in the am..."

Could that other Eastern team be the Rangers? lol

I could see it being Toronto or Boston. I've no idea how tight Toronto are with the cap, but if it were someone like Boston who don't have a ton of room to play with I could understand why they'd want time.

Makes sense, i'm just holding out hope that the Rangers take a shot at him. Makes sense that the Rangers would have to do some menuvering to get him signed, as well.

Maybe. Or possibly it's a team much further East! Like over the ocean and through Europe! In all seriousness, I think I believe Sather this time. He said "no big contracts" this off season. I doubt he comes here. On the other hand, "the Messiah" may be giving him the grand tour of NYC right now.

Absolutely. I'd imagine they'd have kicked the tires on him at some point - whether that's happened yet or not is anyone's guess. They need a scorer of some description anyway.

Unless he moves one big contract, somehow, then if he adds another one, it's a wash! lol

In all seriousness, I don't think he will sign here. I wish, but I don't see it happening.
