I think if Hillybilly preist is right, they're just going to terminate his contract.

Crazy.

if we put him on re-entry waivers and pay half his salary so he can play on some other team that is outrageous. i'm pretty sure he doesn't have to clear re-entry to come back up during training camp. this move is either desired to humble him and convince him there is no good market for him (as i'm willing to bet he has an ego similar to Ethan Moreau) -- or Katz will flip him the bird and pay him to play in the AHL.

Thats what I hope, anyways... the only caveat being if we can swing a deal with teams at the top of the waiver wire to send assets in return for a re-entry waiver claim..

If someone does claim him the Oilers could have 25 million in cap space.

Look at it this way...

Better this than trading him for Redden or Roszival or Thomas or *insert bloated contract name here*

That would be awful. Tambellini has been very fiscally responsible so far, I can't see him suddenly throwing 2.7 million away this early in the off-season.

I guess it's better to bury his contract than take on other troublesome contracts. Would we be at the cap floor if he clears?

Wow, talk about a harsh dose of reality. I have to wonder what the offers must have been like, for Tambellini to do this. For both sides, the perceptions of this are ugly and a big damn piece of humble pie.

Obviously this proves he doesn't have any value at his current contract. The only deals that might have possibly been offered would have been for high cap players in return. I was hoping he had value as well but obviously he doesn't, and I'd rather just get rid of him than take another team's problem in return.

Perfect.

Either you get your wish, or you realize you need to shut the **** up and play before you make god damn trade demands.

I will be watching with interest.
Interesting point. So his accusations against the medical staffs and no communication from the management with him since his injury could come back to haunt him?

That would be a terrible move. Cap space for the next two years has little value -- the Oilers aren't contending. The cap hit in years three and four will be huge when the new forwards are coming up for new contracts, and relatively good deals like Penner and Hemsky expire.
