If the reference is Strickland's Twitter... the comment was made 14 hours ago according to the time stamped. Turco has since responded to others in the media saying there wasn't any update.

that might be an exaggeration but i don't think i'd give one guy an arbitration award based on the other. hartnell at a year or two less and $3.5M is very fair.

two things strike me in this post, if people are not happy with turco, who would you be happy with? nabokov or bust? turco in a reduced role--like any starter will have with leighton making $1.5M--would be pretty solid, i think he is just wearing down to where he cannot start 65+ games is all. the other is the readiness to dump carle, the guy was good for us last year and yet some fans are just as eager to move him as last offseason. if he were on the open market right today he'd be getting a RAISE and over 5-7 years.

Carle to the Kings is looking very realistic.

yes, but i wasn't exactly suggesting that we'd be dropping hartnell for backes. maybe carter for backes+ seeing as theyre both free agents after this year

I'll keep my fingers crossed. I do nto want us to go over the cap even if it's allowed.
I don't see Boosh as untradeable necessarily. He is viewed as cap relief because his hit is not overwhelming and he has a year left. Some teams would take him on as a stopgap measure.

Yes, and from what I saw in the Olympics he was a no show. He was almost as bad as Joe Pavelski. Players that had his ice time or even less like Dustin Brown were far more useful during the tournament.

I do nto care if you make meat ball out of him. I do not want to see his face in orange and black. He is a very inconsistent back up, not NHL player in my books.

Sorry but Carter will not be traded for a deal involving Backes as the center piece.

Considering Meszaros is our 5th defenseman. Oh yes it is. I am really thinking if a trade's going down, Carle's involved.

Trade Carle away clearing 3.4 mil, sign Turco maybe 2 or 2.5, bring Bartulis up to be 6th D with O'Donnell as 5th.

Looks like Kovalchuk to LA and then LA to make a trade with a team in the East. Sounds plausible but not sure if it would be the Flyers....maybe Carle to LA where he would fit in.

i dont think i would qualify hartnell as being 10x better than backes based on the olympics alone. if were doing that, then i can say that backes is actually a little better because he had 48 points to hartnells 44 last season.

Yeah well that was Hartnell's worst season of his career (not based just on numbers particularly), and Backes still scored on 4 points more.

You are basing your opinion on him based on the Olympics? How about basing your opinion on Hartnell based on a good portion of the regular season when he was flat out terrible?

There is no way that Hartnell is 10x the player Backes is. I think Backes is a better skater and has better hands. I'd definitely take Backes at 2.5 over Hartnell at 4.2, and I'd probably take Backes over Hartnell if they are the same price.

Yeah a dubious source but again plausible. I can see Carle back out West and with management that is familiar with him. Besides, it makes sense in that they could get a winger possibly from LA and then fit in Turco or something along those lines.

I don't even ****ing like Turco that much and he's been crap at times. But he'd still be such a huge improvement over what we have that I'm really hoping that this happens.

Or we can just throw Gagne and JVR to Florida for Vokoun and start writing our names on the Cup right now... (yes, that is a joke.)

We are technically the only team left that is really looking for a starter, and honestly, I hope this goes through, but we would definitely have to dump someone, maybe like Carle.
