D Parent, Ryan » RFA - $0.9m
F Kostitsyn, Sergei » RFA - $0.8m
F Hornqvist, Patric » RFA - $0.7m
D Franson, Cody » RFA - $0.7m
F Santorelli, Mike » RFA - $0.6m
D Dietrich, Robert » RFA - $0.6m
G Dekanich, Mark » RFA - $0.5m
QO have to be 10% of that.
Franson, Hornqvist, Santorelli, Parent, SK if all excepted the QO ( know not going to happen) is only an additional 300k, where is the 3.5M addiditional coming from?

I can see Hornqvist for 2.5 million. Might be less because of the RFA.
Here's my take on the salary tell me I'm wrong please.
We actually saved 10M this season 4.5 Arnott, 2.5M for Hamhuis, 2M for Ellis (really Gerb was on payroll and should count but I won't for this arguement)
Atleast 1m of that will go to Parent - 9M
Atleast 2M of that wil go to Hornqvist (making his salary 2.7M) - 7M
Let's say SK gets 1.6M which is double his last year salary - 5.4M
Franson and Santorelli get a raise of 200k each - 5M
I totally agree with you from that aspect. I think Dumping Dumont, adding Kovalchuk is the BEST option. Not like it will happen, but it is a good idea.
So do I. At some point this franchise is going to have to decide if winning is more costly that just competing. Then we'll be doing this same scenario every year. Will the fanbase be satisfied enough to keep growing or will the frustration wear out the enthusiasm. Just think about next year Sully salary goes away and the money goes to Weber right? Still no offense. We keep subtracting offense for defense. Every year we loose in the playoffs the question is where are the goals going to come from. We keep putting 2nd line players as our number 1 line and expect number 1 results. I don't think we have a legit number one player. Wilson can be but isn't one right now. Hornqvist (not signed) is he legit 30 goal scorer? Some says that Legwand should have scoring linemates. That means at 4ml a pop you would have 12ml tied up in one line. If we had Kovy you put Tootoo and Spaling on a line with him and he would score more goals than Legwand.

Can we not make our roster better with 5M?
We didn't use the money we were supposedly setting aside for a Kessel trade last year. I see no reason why Poile will deviate here.
Wait, you're saying we spent 3.5M in extending FAs but then also add in Parent, Hornqvist and #6 defenseman into some extra column. If that's the case Franson got one hell of a raise.
Am I not wrong that Hornqvist, Franson, Parent, Santorelli and SK are the only current roster players that were RFA?
Laakso I think was the other.
Also, Sulzer was on a one way contract so he was still technically on the roster.
Maybe you forgot Tootoo, Bouillon, Rinne, Goc ........ $3.5mil in added salary from last season with our contract extensions.
Sulzer got paid his full salary while in the AHL but was only on the roster for 103 days.
I feel better. We needed to just "make a move" just to say, look we added a good player in free agencey". so now in the media's eyes we've replaced Arnott.
So is everyone back from the edge and ok with the Lombardi signing? If you go to the main page and find the Lombardi thread, I'd say 90% of the people feel we got a good player at a fair price that makes our team better.

Yeah and the other 10% can be summed up in two categories, the jealous and the crowd that thinks every free agent is overpaid...
Lombardi is a solid signing for the Preds. The guy is fast, plays hard, puts up points, his profile has Predator written all over it, I think he really fits.
Does this mean all of our problems are solved? No, but this is an overall upgrade in my mind, swapping Lombardi for Arnott- in future potential, hustle, and speed.
There is still work to be done to elevate the team. But I am a little more optimistic than I was before.
