Before any proposals, let's remember he's one concussion away from being out of hockey.

It was pretty obvious...they have 500K in cap space and still have to sign Carcillo, Powe, Asham.

I was thinking about maybe a deal involving AK (even if I would like to see him next year) and Gagné. They both have 1 year deal and Philly would get 2M more in cap space (5,25 - 3,25).

What do you think would it take to get Gagné and should we go after him?

I was wondering when the yearly Gagne to Montreal and Lecavalier to Montreal threads/rumours were going to start

This has Tanguay written all over it ; excitement over a francophone player, plays well the first part of the season, takes a big hit and suffers concussion, is done for rest of the season.

No thanks.

From what I read he maybe a Lightning next season. Flyers took on the salary of Meszaros to shore up their 5-6 D, maybe Gagne to Tampa is Stevie-Y returning the favour.

He's more fragile than porcelain. Sad because he's a great talent.

Gagne is a proven Top 6 and I would gladly welcome him, except that his cap hit at 5.25 would force us to move a lot more than just Andrei Kostitsyn.

Won't happen.

I thought people didn't like injury prone players. At least least that's one of the reasons why people want to trade away Markov.

Gagne plays LW no? Who then would play RW? Neither Cammy or Pouliot can play RW.

Philly would be stupid to let him go anyway, they have Richards, Carter, Briere and Giroux as Centers, Briere and Giroux have been playing off position on the wings but they clearly showed being way more effective as centers during the playoffs. Philly needs to trade either carter or Briere.

Only idiots want to trade Markov. Gagne isn't even injury prone, he had one concussion and post-concussion syndrome because of it. He had a sports hernia this year but that's easily treatable. He's an amazing two-way player with a wicked shot. I'd love him on the Habs.

Kostitsyn + Mathieu Carle v. Gagne.

We're much better with Eller (and Schultz!) than with one year of Gagne.

He also had a foot injury, but forced himself to rush back into the line-up once Boston went up 3-0 in the series.

Just FYI, if you look at his career, he has scored the same number or more goals (per season) than Cammalleri and he is 30.

Yup, he started the playoffs with a broken foot and came back early to kick some ass. Gagne is a tremendous players, that's basically it.
