I don't like using high light video as indication of how good player is.
I'm sure even AHLers have their moments.

Center position in Detroit is a bit more challenging than some teams
- High defensive responsibility
- Need to be good puck distributor
- the 3rd liner center will have to work hard for the puck (since Hudler, Cleary are most likely the linemates)
- He can't float and try to score

I understand the situation, but man oh man I feel for the guy. One team? Really?

If anything he should take it as a sign to call it a career. Don't tarnish it by wearing another Uni for a year.

How does only 1 team surprise you? The way most older forwards are over looked for younger players is getting way out of hand.

Yeah, like this bum...

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...y.php?pid=4742

Anyway, if he wants to play and a team offers him a chance to do so, take it.

EDIT: By the way, in your avatar, what is that right below the Avalanche? Kinda looks like a giant ____

The look in his face after he scores that goal is " I wanna do that again" You can't blame him for wanting to still play, as fitting an ending as that was, it is eerie knowing that is the last time he will touch the Puck in a Star's sweater, Star's fans should be mad at managment not Mike, good luck to him if he goes to Det. I dont know if his legacy is too tarnished by going the most prestigous American team in his home state(being the alltime American high scorer) with the almost garuntee of the playoffs and chance at another Cup

Please, Dear God, let Modano sign with the Wings and finish his career where he grew up.

If Anaheim did re-sign Ryan, signed Selanne and Kariya and really wanted to do three scoring lines, Modano on the cheap would fit that perfectly:

Lupul/Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry
Kariya - Koivu - Selanne
Blake - Modano - Lupul/Ryan
Marchant - Chipchura - Parros
Bodie, Carter

Of course, our D would probably be swiss cheese

Damn Holmgren, this would have been the guy to sign with Jody Shelley's money.

Oh man I so want this to be done, Modano totally changes the flavour of that third line and what I think it will be capable of.

The only problem is we will have to get him out of that 9, maybe he can play as 19, wait no, 99, hmmm, we will sort the number out later.

Seriously? Every thread needs like a 10 year old reference?

As for him going back "home" wouldn't be all that bad. I have a tonne of respect for the Wings.

Most Dallas fans think that the Red Wings are a class organization, it just drives us crazy that you're the exact opposite of the Lions. Its kind of a grudging respect/annoyance.

Yeah, and after watching him play since the Stars moved here, joe wants us to believe that we can't find a use for Modano here. Even if he is our 3rd line center, can you imagine a better 3rd line center in the league.

All that said, Dear Lord God almighty and all that is holy, please do not let him go to Detroit. I want him and some investors to buy the Stars and get Hicks out of Dallas.

Call me crazy, but why isnt toronto considering him on a one year deal?

We have a clear need for a #3/4 centerman, we could take his low salary, and we dont have a prospect that can play the bottom6 centerman position, hanson will be playing #3/4 too.

He would add all kinds of leadership and a stable leadership presence on the youngest team in the nhl, and wouldnt cause any of our prospects to not get playing time. He would remind me alot of primeau last year.

I think this is a sign that he doesn't want to go to Detroit. If he was serious(at this moment) about signing there, why reveal to the media that no one else even has remote interest? I think he's still holding out to stay in the Pacific. Tough to see where he'd fit in, though.

I'd say they were to the Avs and the Sharks as well.

I can get that. Though, we have to put up with the lions, and years of mismanagement of the tigers before recent success, so it does even out.
