I'm not a huge Gagne fan, but we could really use his D from the wing position, but injuries are a concern every year with him. It'd be kind of bitter sweet to see him go.
So.. Whats the deal here? What or Who do you like?
That real long rant was sarcastic. I actually have no problem with what is going on this offseason. Don't really like the Shelley signing but everything has been ok with me. Just read on Twitter that Gagne asked to waive NTC. As things shake out with that I will either be psyched or bummed. Glad it isn't Carter going. Love Gagne, but Carter is more valuable.
I hate the idea of trading Gagne. Hate it hate it hate it.
HOWEVER, depending what we get for him AND we sign either Turco or Nabakov I would be okay after a while. It will sting, but I'd get over it probably.
It's for the greater good. Simon has put in a decade of work with this franchise, but someone has to go so we can get the goaltending that has alluded us for the past 20 years.
Of course I would rather Hartnell, Carter, or Briere be the odd man out but it's out of our hands (as it always has been )
I'm not against moving Gagne, but we better be getting a nice return if its the case. Not only need cap space and picks but a player that can step in for cheap and play the wing with some offense
Yea in the past he said he'd waive it. He said if your asking him to wIve that means you don't want him anymore and he doesn't want to play for a team that doesn't want him.

I'm not against moving Gagne, but I am against trading him for cap space. If there is a reasonable return as well as some cap space I'll consider it a good trade.
"An NHL source has informed me the Flyers have asked Simon Gagne to waive his NTC."

The series of moves that lead up to this and this itself are mistakes. He deserved more loyalty than that...and all the people who are okay with this are hopefully not the same people who scoff when players go for the most money they can get. It's a business, and when that trumps other things, it really sucks.
To prevent teams from moving you at a time when it's very bad for you, or to a location you really don't want to play in. It gives you some control over your fate.
