Agreed. He ain't going anywhere right now, as it seems no one wants him. Best off to play the season, get his value back and possibly be moved at like next years trade deadline. Some on said swap him for another bloated contract. Anyone think something around Souray for Redden could go down?

Mildly surprised the Isles didn't take him, they'd actually have a respectable d-corps [and Brendan Witt].

Worst contracts in the NHL? Are you high? Or is this just typical HF Hyperbole?

If Oilers take Eminger for FC, Ducks could pick Souray from waivers.

The Kings will undoubtedly take Souray on re-entry waivers for half of that salary if he falls that far to us.

A lot of teams are interested if he's on re-entry.

What is the order for re-entry draft, same as draft order?

Why the hell would the Oilers trade for Redden? Are you high? Souray is exactly good when he is healthy but Redden flat out sucks. Souray also has 2 years left, Redden has 4 or 5.

Doesn't matter as Oil management have already said they aren't putting Souray on re-entry waivers.

Doughty, Souray, JJ operating your power play would be lethal.

I think the other 29 teams are smart by not taking Souray now. It's a long shot that he's going to stay in Edmonton and they clearly don't want him. We're still early in the summer, I think most teams are waiting to see if they can get him and unload a contract they don't want as well.

I wouldn't be shocked if Souray does go on re-entry waivers at some point but Edmonton's got plenty of time before it gets to that.

still cheaper than a buyout for the oil...
There's no rule that says you have to go on re-entry waivers after you go on regular waivers. Why would he even 're-enter' the league? He never left, he wasn't assigned anywhere or sent down. Waivers is just like saying "we don't want this guy, anyone can have him" - players can be put on waivers without being sent down.

Since january souray has been injured, had his hand get infected, publicly demanded a trade and criticised the team. his value now is like 10% of what it was before he went crazy. the recent proposals you show arent that bad

souray for ryder and thomas is thinking his value is too high?

im not even in these posts but if your gonna slag an entire fan base have an actual ****** proposal not 5 that are 7 months old and 3 average to bad ones

Did anybody else know that you could keep a player on the roster even after waiving him? I just learned that when I read the TSN article.

alot of people are dumb enough to keep mentioning re-entry waivers when there is 5 posts per page quoting the gm saying he isnt going on re-entry or that you cant till the season starts

Jack Johnson didnt gain enough value in that short amount of time to deem that original offer terrible. Just another fan overvaluing his team's players.

I think Edmonton would do it and I don't think the pick is necessary.

Rivet only has one year left on his contract and should be able to fetch Edmonton a 2nd or 3rd round pick at the deadline.

I don't see much room on Edmonton's blue line though unless Tambellini is willing to lose a guy like Peckham on waivers.

Ya, I don't know what team you are a fan of but Rivet had surgery in the off season and may not be ready to even start the season. He may not training till November and we don't know how he is going to come back from a pretty serious injury. That's why I think the pick is necessary.

Exactly. Cap space is a commodity and the Oil will have to assume some sort of penalty for the Souray situation, not just the dump for cap space. We know its not re-entry, so it's either a buyout or a trade for a salary dump in return...as it should be.
