I'm really pulling for Shattenkirk to make it out of camp. He has a shot to but I think he will start in Lake Erie unfortunately.

Avs management better not rush Pickard. I'm hoping he gets 5 years before they even consider bringing him to the team.

Pickard will play in the CHL next year.
Even if Cumiskey really sucked, the guy play 22 minutes ish a game for most of the season last year. The coaching staff loves him. No way does anyone take his spot

I agree with Pickard, after he gets out of junior and goes to Lake Erie we need to get him a goalie coach and let him progress there. Hopefully we have a decent d-corps in the AHL also to let him learn and adjust accordingly.

Look at Varalmov and Neuvirth out of Hershey.
Look at Bernier and Schneider in the AHL,
they've all had time to mature and should become full time regulars, even if one is sitting behind Luongo.

Most people on here are discarding Gaunce right away. I think he has as much a chance as Shattenkirk to make the team. Maybe Holos has a little advantage due to him playing against men already. However Gaunce seems to be very good defensively already as he was named top-3 defensive dman in the OHL for the last 2 years. He can be quite physical and has a very good upside offensively as well. I know this was all against younger players instead of the AHL but obviously he knows something about defense already. His skating was the knock on him but it was average at worst. He probably already improved that as well by now. If he has a good camp or a good start in the AHL, I could see him getting the first call.

I wasent insisting Pickard plays this year, just wondering the chances. All ive heard is how he takes way more shots than all the other goalies which is Andy-esque.

Nah, they won't be that bad. All of these young players will have an exciting NHL season under their belts with playoff experience. That goes a long way in the rebuilding process.

I can see them making the playoffs again as #7-8 seed.
