Why are any of those guys locked into anything? They still have to earn their spots.

All 6 of our returning d-men had stretches of poor play last year. I don't think anything should just be handed to them, especially Cumiskey and Wilson.

If one of the rookies proves to be a better option then one of those guys is going to sit.
I agree with Wilson as he was sat a lot and just didn't seem to be that much favored within the coaching staff. But Sacco loves Cummer. I think he's locked in.

2. Holos. As already mentioned by other posters, he is probably the most NHL ready as he has been playing against men for the last 2 years. If he starts as the #7 it will be most likely in rotation with Wilson and Cumiskey.

3. Liffiton. Most likely to be a true #7 D. A true #7 does not play very often. He is used when one of the regulars is out for only one game and it is not worth calling up somebody from LEM. If he is out for longer, a prospect will be called up. The main reason why I think he might be the #7 is because LEM has 9 dmen right now who I think are all AHL caliber. Gawryletz doesn't belong to the Avs and the others' development would be slowed down unless they crack the top 6.

Liffiton
Gawryletz (do not belong to Avs)
Montgomery
Macias
Shattenkirk
Cohen
Holos
Gaunce
Chouinard
I completely forgot about that signature , last week . I think they got David Liffiton back with us for that reason . I think they see him as our 7th man on the D.

Pretty sure he is just a fighter. Probably to protect the kids in Erie.

I know preissing was placed on waivers, but was he bought out. Does anyone have a link to an article showing he was bought out already?

Maybe , but a guy like him is a more logical choice as a 7th D than a young player like : Shattenkirk , Cohen and others .

Based on the amount of games Liles was a healthy scratch, I would not count him as safe either.

He has been officially bought out.

And no Avs filed for salary arbitration.

Will have the final roster set pretty soon.

Holos. He has already been playing against better players than in the AHL.

Maybe , but Holos is still young. Even if he already played against good players , we must keep in mind that he didnt play in the NHL yet and at only 23y of age they should be careful not to hurt his devlopment .

How old are Wilson and Cumiskey? 23 and 24, respectively. As noted above, their play last year left a lot to be desired at different times, and age is not a factor.

and how many time did we say that Cumiskey should play in the AHL full time insted of warming the bench ? Only this year we are saying that he hasa spot on our D , b4 that we were 50/50 on the subject . we even had talk or weather or not he would make it to the NHL one day and do we trade him or not .

As for Wilson , we were all exited about his play at first but at the end, after some bad luck with injuries i give you that , he was skipping games too. Some of us were not always happy about his play. Even as we speak , some are saying that Wilson doesnt have a guaranteed spot on the team.

I think they will dress 7 D a lot more this year. With Koci on your bench, you're basically shifting 3 lines anyway.
