The Flyers are re-opening contract talks with unrestricted free agent forward Arron Asham, according to CSN’s John Boruk.
As of Monday Asham had not been contacted by the Flyers, but following Dan Carcillo’s decision to file for arbitration Monday and trade talks involving Simon Gagne, the Flyers have decided to keep their options open at the wing position.
Asham has received interest from Western Conference teams the likes of Los Angeles, San Jose and Phoenix, however, he prefers playing in the Eastern Conference where he has spent the entirety of his career.
The 32-year-old Asham had a career-best postseason in 2010, recording four goals and seven points. He is said to be seeking a multi-year contract and a substantial pay increase from the $640,000 he earned the previous two seasons with the Flyers.
Well, we need two wingers to fill out our top 9 if you move Gagne if you want to really be "3 lines deep". As Shelley has no business taking a shift above the 4th line, and neither should Powe, really.
