thats actually what i REALLY liked about carter in the playoffs, he was physical as hell (for him) and was starting to throw hits and use his size to help him.

gagne isnt like overtly lazy...hes just not the hardest worker on our team, hes about even with carter.
LOLWUT!?

So injuries = lack of work ethic?

Gagne is also one of our best 2 way players. You clearly haven't watched many Flyers games.

wtf at Gagne being lazy

He doesn't hit anyone really but that's not his game. He's very responsible defensively.

Being unable to push yourself physically any harder due to injury means you're lazy? Sounds right in line with an HF comment.

Am I the only one that chuckles at the "Carter is a lazy skater" argument? It's constantly brought up, and while he isn't the team's best skater, outside of his inability to play the body (which amazingly disappeared in Rounds 2-4), I don't think he's really that lazy of a skater. Especially for being 6'3". Longer strides.

Again, my source is closer to Z than Flyers. I know that Flyers DID in fact make a solid offer. I do know that in terms of money it is not what Z wanted. But I also do know that Z is more likely than not will sign.

As for liking Z - I actually truly do NOT like him as a player.

So instead of getting Turco, we're going for Zherdev? W. T. F.

He's not a lazy skater. He just has longer legs so he looks like he does it effortlessly while a guy like Richards has to skate harder cause he has a more round frame. People just automatically think that if you score 40-50 goals a year, you're lazy defensively.

Carter isn't lazy. He's just on the verge between a great player and really great, depending on how "on" he is on any one night. No player is ever 110% every single game, there are ups and downs all the time. Because of Carter's talent level, the difference in output between nights when he's on and nights when he's not is very stark, and I think that's what people incorrectly interpret as laziness. As he continues to mature, he's becoming a key contributor in other ways even on nights where he's not the Flyers most dominant offensive player. As that happens, the "lazy" comments will go away.

For those who haven't done google translate on the sports.ru website:

Quote:
As it became known Sports.ru, Forward Atlanta Nikolai Zherdev will continue his career in "Philadelphia".

Zherdev has sezon-2008/2009 of the Rangers, after which the club and the player could not agree on salary.

In autumn 2009, Nicholas has signed a contract with Atlant. In 52 games last season, Zherdev scored 38 (13 +25) points.

...it's probably a debate between Coburn and Carter for best skater on the team... Carter is friggin effortless in his skating.

I'm saying I'd like us to sign Zherdev like we did with Emery. A short contract for cheap.

Who said we're not getting Turco?

Thought on Turco: Could the Flyers and Marty be waiting until his 35th birthday (mid-August) to sign a 1 year deal + incentives? Would enable the Flyers to fit him under the cap and Turco to make more than the Flyers can offer at this point. Might make some sense.

I heard this earlier. I think Holmgren had a plan all along.

This could turn out to be a solid offseason other than Jody Shelley.

Ok, I keep seeing it brought up and have seen it numerous times in the past. I often wonder if my eyes are playing tricks on me or some of the people here have no idea what they're talking about...don't know why I ever questioned Option B.

This actually makes a frightening amount of sense. Of course Holmgren will sign Turco to a deal that has a large amount of incentives so that they can roll over to next year's cap when we'll actually need the space.
