OK, I was wrong. Journalists suck ... Seravalli has no source for his little ditty.

The signing of Zherdev would officially mark the end of the Simon Gagne era in Philadelphia after 10 seasons. Last week, Gagne agreed to waive his no-trade clause. Gagne is due $5.25 million next season, his last year under contract with the Flyers.

Only thing that i'm concerned about now is that it could just mean, that he hasn't waived it YET.

Exactly. Wag the dog.

EDIT: Just saw your above post. Lazy journalists suck. Remember nhloutsiders.com claimed that Desjardins was being traded several years back and many NHL "journalists" fell for it? Ed Moran was one of the "victims" of his own laziness.

So, he hasn't "waived" his NTC, but will for the right situations. I think it was ASF that said that the Flyers have asked Gagne and his agent to poke around (who knows if they will) and provide the Flyers with some options where he might be willing to go.
I think this is exactly what happened.

Yeah, ASF's did say they asked his agent to poke around. The article said Tampa, Dallas, and Montreal were among the teams that expressed interest to his agent.

The wording there is important. Simon Gagne "agreed to waive his no trade clause" is not the same thing as "Simon Gagne has waived his no trade clause". I would bet that Gagne has an understanding with the team at this point, but nothing official yet.

I'm so ridiculously confused by this offseason. Seriously, what the hell are we doing? Seems like every day something pops up and just makes me shake my head.

I love Gagne and didn't want him to leave...however, I thought well maybe if frees things up to get a solid return and goaltender then maybe something could work out? Now I'm just confused.

Seriously, this organization is really starting to become a joke. DO WE EVEN HAVE A PLAN?!?!?!?

Yeah, it seems like that is what is going on. This is from ASF's article:

Quote:
First, the facts: the Flyers asked Gagne to waive his no trade clause. Gagne agreed. There was no predetermined trade in the works between the Flyers and another team, although several teams did inquire about Gagne’s availability prior to him being asked to waive.

Since Gagne agreed, the Flyers have given him and his agent Bob Sauve time to hunt around for teams that might be interested, and to compile a list of teams the Flyers could try to work out a deal with.

Perhaps Homer has adopted the method in which Family Guy decides their plotlines as told by South Park?

Haha. Thanks, sorry about that. I also found this article:

http://www.cyberpresse.ca/le-soleil/...r-linstant.php

Google translate is pretty rough, but it still says he has his NTC

you very well could be right. even if he did waive it, maybe the Flyers asked him to say no I havent waived it. saying "no comment" would of been like saying yes. I dont want Gagne traded. But because Holmgren has a ***** for having 5 top 4 defenseman, he wont deal Carle. Of course he wont trade Hartnell even tho he should be traded before Gagne.
Holmgren, you really really are a retard.

You technically don't have to waive it until there is a trade to waive it for.

misleading title FAIL

Technically, Gagne has not waived his NTC, he has only agreed to do so when the time comes.

Yes, if Gagne had outright officially waived his NTC, then the Flyers could send him anywhere, that's not what he wants.

What are they talking about regarding the goalies in this video?

The second one down with Gagne, Giroux, and Briere

Just says flyers are looking to sign a goalie during the offseason and that the leading candidates were Turco and Nabokov.

Giroux says the team is excited about finding out who they are going to sign as a new goalie.

Briere says Nabokov is a world class goalie who would definitely help the team, but doesnt want to take credit away from what Leighton did last season.

Gagne says that the same question about who will be the flyers starting goalie comes up every year and goes on to add that for now he thinks they will stick with Leighton.

I hope he doesn't waive it. Maybe then Homer will buy a calculator. Though, he'd overpay for it by at least 20% and OfficeMax would end up with our next 2nd round draft pick...

If that gets you in trouble, then this has to be the most strictly moderated message board in the history of the world pt. II.

Gagne said he didn't waive is NTC, but he also said he knows the Flyers have cap issues. He's a player that has only 1 year remaining on his contract and in the next few days we'll see what his future will hold.

So you can either see it like this:
1- he didn't waive his NTC and don't want to go anywhere,
or you can see it like this:
2- he hasn't waived it yet but probably will depending of the team he's being traded to.

I tend to believe more option #2 because of the last part of the interview. If he didn't and won't waive hit NTC, then he's staying in Philly so he knows what his future holds... so why would he say "We'll see what my future hold"?

Why do I get the feeling Holmgren is going to **** this up even more and will be forced to trade our 2011 1st rounder and Simon Gagne to LA for Peter Harrold. Of course Kings fans probably think that is the value for Harrold.
