Bob Boughner says Taylor Hall is a center

In an interview on the morning show he said Hall was Center in Windsor until they started playing him 25+ minutes a night. When asked if Hall could play center I believe he said "without a doubt". Bougner said the only thing he would need to work on would be his draws as he might be rusty. I think this answers the "could he?" question, if anyone would know it would be his coach for the last 2 years. I guess that still leaves us with the "will he?" question...

We've heard and discussed all the reasons he wasn't playing center in Windsor so this discussion will probably not be solved. There are a few schools of thought there.

He has played wing the last few seasons for the most part.

He has a bit of a free lance style that could get him into defensive trouble at the next level if he plays wing.

His free lance style at center wouldn't be as much of a problem but he has even more defensive responsibilities as a center.

I'll be personally surprised if he plays center at the next level, especially early on.

He will play center and be a #1 center. Im not sure what folks are missing here? Some threads particularly prior to the draft it was mentioned 3482 times that Hall is a center.

We can discuss "all the reasons he wasn't playing center" as much as we want, it's just conjecture. When the coach who switched him from center to wing says it was because they were playing him too many minutes, and 25 is a ton for any forward, I think I'll go with his explanation.

It's not as easy as that. It's tough to outright say 'he's a center' when he has played wing for the most part the last two seasons.

I don't anticipate him playing center during his first couple of seasons in the NHL - but it is good to know he is versatile.

I disagree. BPA, and thats exactly what the Oilers organization did and I'm thankful for that simple task.

Change it to

MP-Hall-Hemsky that could possibly be the fastest line in the league!

Penner-Hall-Eberle

If Hall is moved to centre. I'd want him to play with Penner. Penner is good at draws, and he has the size to step in if anyone is taking liberties with Hall or Eberle.

Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky also looks like a keeper of a line.

Of course he *can* play center, the question is whether that's where he's at his best.

When I think of speedy players like Hall I think of wingers, but it would be nice if he's just as good at center.

No, non, nyet. Penner, Hall and Eberle are all goal scorers. Hemsky and Penner have chemistry. Penner Hall Hemsky could be tried, but putting that much pressure on Hall right off the bat might not be a good idea. Penner and Hemsky should stay together for sure.

And yet his coach, who put him on the wing, did so directly. I guess it's not that tough for him to say.

I prefer the MPS - Hall - Eberle idea. Eberle as the slowest(and probably the smartest) can play the 3rd man high and 1st man back role that the C traditionally plays. Hall plays the rover and forechecking role. And Ultra Magnus offers a similar "outside speed and drive the net" game as Hall from the wing.

Bob Boughner didn't find it too tough.

based on written reports about eberle's skating, if he's "slowest", thats one of the fastest lines in thee league lol

The NHL is a massively different situation than playing in junior when A) you are better than almost everybody and B) your team is one of the best junior teams of all time.

Playing center in the NHL is no picnic, that is why they are highly sought after.

From early reports his skating seems quite improved, but he'll never be on Hall or MPS's level there. His strengths lie elsewhere.

I wouldn't drop the "S." No one dropped the "A" in MAP even after he decided to go by Marc.

Besides, I'm guessing some people like "MPS" because it looks similar to MP5?
