No way he lasts that long. We need a guy like him. Tambo basically describes Carter as something they are looking for. Affordable role player with size and grit that can play hockey. It's a need that the club has at the moment. If he passes the Oiler's pick, then Burkie will poach him.

Ryan Carter is a decent 4th line center. He failed to solidify a full time roll with the Ducks, getting beat out by Chipchura, Brown, Bodie, and Marchant.

Pass. I don't really see him as an upgrade over Mitchell or Hanson. Better to spend a little bit extra and get a quality 3rd line center.

I do'nt understand why he would be waived? He didnt have negative value and i'm sure SOMEONE would have given up a late pick for him.

I would be okay with him on our fourth line, how is his speed/faceoffs/defensive awareness Ducks fans? Can he play pk?

maybe if basketball had 23 man rosters and not like 10-ish man rosters then he would be making similar money to hockey stars

No offense, but I seriously hate it when people say these things after a player got waived (since it pretty regularly). The guy just got waived. It doesn't matter how sure anyone is, in reality GMs are not stupid (and neither is Murray) and obviously noone wanted to give up even a late pick. That's why the player got waived.

If Ryan Carter wasn't going to get the chance in Anaheim, then I'm all for him getting a chance somewhere else. I thought he did a solid job everytime he was given a shot to play.

Funny thing is the Oc register did a piece on him today. I guess they should add a comment like "and he was cut today".

Would be very suprised if he's not picked up.

Burkies chance to get both Ryan and Carter without giving up Kaberle.

Hopefully someone picks him up. I think he's shown enough to deserve a chance to play regularly on a 4th line somewhere. Guy has a lot of heart and balls. Very few non-fighters drop the gloves with Ivanans.

With Whitney and Carter (possibly) gone we're down to just 2 Ryans's. We need to add at least one now. A physical, top-pairing Ryan to be exact.

I liked Carter in Anaheim, but we have no room for him. He'll be a decent pick up for some team.

Wow, there's probably 175 guys available in free agency that fits this description.

It's July 8th dude, Oilers could have grabbed a 4th liner long ago if they had such a pressing need.

Carter never got a real shot on the Ducks and I think he still has the potential to be a good player if a team is willing to give him a full time spot in the lineup. Best of luck to him, I still wish he got a better look in Anaheim.

sucks to hear that ryan carter has been waived. he's actually pretty good, when he isnt hurt. the oc register just did a little piece on him today.

looks like getzlaf, koivu, chipchura, and marchant are the centers. id rather have carter than marchant.
