Blake Kessel

I was just wondering, what it would take to get Blake Kessel, from the Islanders to the leafs. Why not bring in Phil's little bro.

I'm thinking

B.Kessel + 3rd for Grabovski?

Kessel was a PPG in the NCAA this season.

I don't think the Isles would be interested in moving him at this point.

So you propose acquiring a prospect that seems to have some potential, great. Why are we trading our best and most proven centre to do so?

Grabovski may be our best centre point wise (to date), but he's the least fitting.

I would trade Grabs for Blake Kessel + a 4th rounder any day.

I'd definitely do this trade, get rid of that 2.9M and acquire a decent prospect

Too bad the Leafs are attempting to win games this year....

$2.9m is hardly a bad salary for a guy who will problably put up 55 points this year, and Blake Kessel is nothing more than a guy like Jerry d'Amigo...problably give the edge to d'Amigo simply because he's 1 year behind...

He's a lot more fitting than Hanson & Mitchell, who are our only remaining NHL centres. Notice the lack of Bozak & Kadri being mentioned. Bozak seems to be better fitting, and Kadri has done nothing to suggest he will be any sort of fit at the NHL level, nevermind a 50 point player.... the overrating of prospects (especially leaf ones) continues to amaze...

The funny thing is...this trade involves two teams....

Team A needs young NHL talent that can play right away....every move they've made sincce their current GM has taken over has gone towards this.

Team B needs prospects...specifically on the wing and blueline... they are obviously rebuilding and have a ton of talent in the middle..

Yet team A is trading Mikhail Grabovski (proven young NHL talent) to team B for Blake Kessel (prospect on the wing)

Kessel is a ppg NCAA D-man, but your point still rings true. No dice from isles pov.

You're right...$2.9million for a 55 point scorer isn't a bad salary...too bad Grabovski is yet to come close to that. So should we pencil Grabovski in for a 7 point bump on his career high this season?

Didnt even look at the position he plays, saw the numbers and assumed winger. With this fact, it makes even less sense, as the Isles need defensive prospects adn the leafs have plenty (Aulie, Blacker, Mikus, Holzer).

Side note: Retract statement about Blake Kessel being less valuable than Jerry d'Amigo. He's problably a better prospect, but there's 0 reason for teh Leafs to acquire him.

The op obviously has no clue that the Isles have even less interest in Grabovski than we do in Jeff Tambellini, and we waived him,

Zack81 why would we give up a good prospect for a salary dump and no we'll have absolutely no trouble making the cap floor, don't even try to argue it because you have no clue what youre talking about. the Isles have 3 centers we like better and at 2.9 million to us he is a salary dump because he's too soft for the 4th line

When a guy is entering his 3rd year in the league? absolutely. It's a lot more realistic than pencilling in 50 points for KAdri.

Much smaller than the expectations in increased production from Wheeler and Kulemin. Both age and experience lead to hockey players development.

we're very aware, but we're not taking someone that you want to give up for a good prospect to do it... you'd need to give us Schenn to take Grabovski and no leaf fan would do that...... but then any sane person would know that the Isles would never want Grabovski

You know, there are a lot more intangibles than points right?

Consistency, effort, APPARENTLY team play (fights with teammates wherever he goes)

I don't want him in the lineup come October.
