Couture's Production this Season

With the departure of Manny and the fact that Logan has nothing more to prove in the AHL it's looking like the 3rd line center position is his at this time. I know things can change, given this and his linemates are McGinn and Mitchell what do you all this his production will be like G-A-Total Points?

I'm thinking mid 30's on points...

I voted 50+, but in reality, 30-39 is realistic. Assuming he gets top 6 minutes, it will be higher.

40ish assuming he plugs in the top 6 and gets some PP time.

25 goals + 35 helpers.

I think he will outscore both Clowe and Seto if they are around

With the lack of offensive talent on the blue line, I wouldn't be surprised to see PP units like this

Heatley-Joe-Seto
Marleau-Boyle

Clowe-Couture-McGinn
Pavs-Demers

Wow. Never thought of that alignment. Nice out of the box and it makes a lot of sense too.

I said 40-49, he's shown that he can create opportunities for himself and others.

pavs-demers is a scary thought, SHG's galore. and I prefer pavs on the point over marleau. Ideally we'd have a trade bring us another dman that can line up with demers or perhaps move up with boyle on those critical 5 on 3 pp's.

considering the clowe-loss scenario here:
heater-joe-seto
pavs-boyle

couture-patty-mcginn (couture+mcginn have chemistry, and patty just kicks ass).
new dman-demers

Where is the option that he will get 14 goals and 16 assists in Toronto?

You don't get SHGA with Patty on the point. You are quite possibly right on Pavs/Demers although Pavs wasn't too bad.

true, I was only worried defensively about pavs-demers combo, a forward and a very defensively liable dman aren't a good combo. I just think marleau is more useful as a forward, his slapshot isn't his strong point.(heater on the other hand does have a decent one).

I'm thinkin 15/25 for Juicy, but, speaking of PP, I honestly think we should try Heater on the point, so he can actually utilize that bomb instead of going for rebounds, etc. Yes, he might be a liability defensively, but I think it's at least worth a try.

I'm honestly not anticipating any big scoring from any of the players if the defence keeps the way they are, besides I also expect MC to start relying more on his top lines to compinsate by overloading offence. So I say not more than 30

I'm going to go with 9 goals and 28 assists.

He'll get spot PP and top six time and will make the most of it.

If he plays all year, I'd say 30-something points is not unreasonable (something like 12 goals, 18 assists).

It may sound silly but I'd rather see McGinn get time in the top 6 before I hoist it on Couture for 2 reasons:

1) I think Logan has oodles of potential. No need to rush him with his ability, organic growth is the way to go, and;

2) McGinn was tabbed as a guy with energy, a good game and some finish not that long ago. Last year he showed some glimpses but I'd like to see him get a shot alongside some quality players to see what upside he's got. I called for this 12 months ago and feel that his boat is leaving the dock into TradeBaitLand if he has a so-so year in the bottom 6 again. Give the kid a shot

I'm guessing right around 30, low 30s high 20s. Higher if he starts to get some PP time, but right now I think he'll have to fight for that.

I voted 30-39, guessing he'll be good for 15 G 20 A.

if i could vote ... i would say

40 (15 g, 25 a) points sounds about right. he will go a 7+ game point streak on a magical homestand, creating some of the greatest game calls by randy hahn and drew remenda.

once we figure out what line hes playing on we should have a better idea concerning production as it should trend at a fairly predictable path.

Agree with McGinn, he's got speed and an absolutely wicked wrist shot. I think Coture has more skill and smarts though, and will probably beat out McGinn for ice time, if it came down to them fighting for the same roster spot.

I think 15g + 15a would be a nice first full season from Coture. I could also see him starting slow playing on the 3rd line, then getting bumped up to top-6/PP due to injury and going on a tear.
