NO! He is one bump away from concussionville. Way too much money for that.

I think it came down to defensive partner. When he's paired with somebody seriously inept (Redden, Gilroy) it will expose him. He was extremely solid when paired with Staal towards the end of last season.

I think we all knew that this would get settled before arbitration. Good to hear.

Staal will drag this out just like his brothers have done. Do not expect Sather to cave either. He would trade him if forced. That is Glen when dealing with RFA'S.

I have an odd feeling it's going to be a 3yr deal for around 9 million, leaving some more coin on the table for you know who---Kovy.

Now if Sather can get Staal to sign for say 3-3.5 million and we dump Redden in Hartford according to capgeek we would have 8 million for Kovy.

As most Ranger fans are split on this 1 player could change the out look of our whole team.

Yesterday was all LeBron and now that that's over.Time to pack the garden(in the play-offs)with Ranger fans not Knick fans(although I do think the Knicks might get 1 of the last few play-off seeds).

This is a pretty stupid post.

Why try to negotiate 2 contracts at once when you only have X amount of cap space? Suppose we have 5 million in space. Girardi wants 3M, Staal wants 3.5M. Yep, negotiating them both at the same time really worked out well.

Now that he knows what Girardi's cap will be, he knows how much he can offer Staal.

No to Kovy, No to Frolov. Just sign Staal and go to Training camp with what we have.

He could be totally making those numbers up, so let's wait for a major source.

That would be a touch more than I hoped for, but I'm happy that we have Girardi back for 4 years.

Good defenseman who has worked to get better and better from the first year he stepped on the ice. These 4 years are absolutely his prime years in terms of what we'll see from his play.

thats a good deal 4 years, 13.3 million, buys 3 UFA years. Sather did pretty good on this one. Girardi would have gotten Hamius money next year on the open market.

Buys out 3 free agent years. Fair contract. Right about market value.

3.325 cap hit. Hmmmm, a little high, but seeing what other similar defenseman are getting, it is not bad for 4 years.

Girardi is eligible for UFA next summer (27 yrs old and at least 4 years experience), so we are technically getting him for 3 years of UFA at this cap hit.
