Jonathon Blum to Leafs

What would the Leafs have to give up?

I have absolutely no idea why we would trade for him so it's hard to get a value.

We have nothing to offer that means anything.

Why would we want him?

He's a great prospect, but unless he projects to be a top 6 LW, we don't really need him.

The Preds will need him and his ELC to soften the loss of Hamhuis to free agency. They have absolutely no reason to trade him.

Right now Blum might or might not make the team this year. The Preds have 6 defenseman 2 who are RFAs and if anyone made an offer to Franson that merits a 1st. He's gone and you might just see Ryan Ellis AND Jon Blum on the Preds......

As a 3rd pairing.

If Toronto wants forwards call Nashville.

If Kaberle gets traded, sooner or later Toronto will need a puck moving defenceman. I'm not saying Blum is the only option, of course not, I'm just curious of his value. I've only seen him play for 6-7 times. His game was very impressive in all those games.

The leafs do have alot of big forwards, but they need more of a finesse defenseman like Blum projects to be, especially if Kaberle is dealt. But it would take too much to get him from Nashville.
But you say you want forwards??

We have 15 starters and could part easily with Dumont,

I wouldn't be opposed to Dumont, what would it cost? And what does his contract look like?

I just don't see what we could give up for him, unless Nashville wants prospects in return.

We simply cannot afford to trade forwards right now without getting better forwards in return and if we're trading defense we need to upgrade the top 6 forwards while doing it, not adding a defensive prospect, no matter how impressive.

I can't imagine Burke saying yes to that deal.

Doubt he even does that for Schenn alone.

No way we trade all out for a great defensive prospect, when we purely lack offense. Even if we did aquire him, you can't say for certain he would make the NHL team.
