i liked voros, a much better team guy than brashear. voros never complained to the paper and always said the right things and not a ******* like brashanimal. i wonder what team will take that bum

Is Poni a very fast player? I'm not sure he is known as a speed demon out there lol.

This guy is SLOW. No way he lasts 10 games with Torts.

The last being the major plus. The more defenseman vying for a spot in camp not named Redden the better.
Scariest part is looking at the stat-line between the two:

Redden: 75 2 12 14 +8 27PIM 17:31/G
Eminger: 63 4 12 16 +1 30PIM 19:28/G

Yipes!

How exactly will he be the new Malik? He is younger, cheaper, closer to 6 feet than 7, in fact, the only way he is like Malik is that he plays D.

Also, he is a lot more physical than he is being given credit for on this board.

Either way, this is not a big deal trade. No one but Avery is going to miss Voros.

Ponikarovsky has above average speed. Eminger is actually a decent skater as far as I remember from watching the Ducks. He got shoved down a little bit by Poni there, and it made him lose his balance a bit.

We'll he is better than Voros, doesn't cost you guys **** and is NHL ready. Eminger was traded at the draft a few years back for a first round pick by the Flyers haha. I remember he used to battle in the corners pretty good.

This move is fine. Emminger is nothing to write home about, but he's serviceable as a seventh defenseman. Voros had no role here and Hillier is garbage. Two pieces of crap for something we can use.

I don't believe, however, that this is the precursor to anything larger. That's said after every move but never is the case.

It's definitely not a precursor, but Sather is apparently not done. I'm really curious, and a little scared, of what could be the next move for the Rangers. What pieces does this team need that Sather could attempt going for?

this amounts to nothing.

voros was toast. wore out his welcome. you can only be a scrub for so long before you start to become a distraction. hell do well in cali. has the good looks to make it work.

eminger is pretty bad. really, hes not gonna help us much.

still would have preferred we gave ilkka heikkinen a chance here.

On Voros...

Originally i never thought Voros would make the club last season. I was figuring he'd lose it to Byers. But...In the pre-season he was noticed every game. He made noise, I think he might have even notched a point or two, and he had some scraps which he seemed to get much MUCH better at. During the season I thought he was OK, and as a 4th liner he was pretty effective. But...When Prust and Shelley came in Voros became completely expendable. Once Prust was re-signed I expected Voros to be traded.

I appreciated him...And the job he did here. I wish him well and hope he kicks ass in Anaheim.

On Eminger...

I remember watching him on the Caps and thinking he was going to be a good player for them. Guess he never progressed. I look forward to seeing him here to see what he can do, but I do wish that if Sather was to get a 6/7 defenseman that it would be a guy that can knock somebody down. I'm happy for McIlrath, but wehat about the next two seasons on Broadway untill he gets here? Gonna be a long run for Henrik. I mean, it's no secret that this defense is among the softest in the division w/out one single guy that really keeps the oppositions heads up...or even keeps them out of the crease.

At the end of the day...

This is just a lateral move that doesn't clear cap space and truly doesn't address a need. It was one expendable player for another and as a whole I think it's a wash.

Now there is one thing that I do like about this deal. It breaks up the click that Avery/Henrik/Voros had going, and in doing so maybe...just maybe new friendships with others on the team will beter the chemistry on the club. That is all something that would never have been a problem with a Messier-like leader in the room. But then again that's a whole other issue.

Eminger is a former 12th overall in 2002 by the Caps.

A useable spare part for 2 unuseable spare parts. As minor as this move is, I still call that a win.

why couldnt the rangers trade Boyle instead of Voros. Voros at least uses his size. so the rangers got another Malik

I think there's another thing with Eminger, his familiarity with Mike Sullivan. One question for you guys, is/was Sullivan more involved with the Dmen (I think Sheony is more so)? If so, I wouldn't mind his production on what was a lackluster Tampa Bay team 2 years ago (where Sully was an Assistant at the time):

2008-09 Tampa Bay NHL 50 4 19 23 -4 36PIM

The more I look at this trade the more I like it...

I agree with this. Looking at it as anything more or less is kind of silly. It gives them much more flexibility to make additional moves as well, if they so choose to.

Boyle makes a lot less than Voros (almost half I believe), so that would be a silly trade. Boyle has a great contract.

Bye Wade. Enjoy Hartford

It appears to be between Eminger/Redden to nail down the final spot on the defensive corps, or be shipped to Hartford. Obviously, this is contingent on how McD and Gilroy look during training camp. But I'm guessing on my part that they're both ahead of Redden on the depth chart due to Torts wanting youngsters on the roster.

Awesome analysis. Did you come up with that by yourself, or did you hire a team of gerbils to evaluate that video for you?

Other than being Henke and Averys designated driver Voros had no role on this team
