There's no such thing as a Minnesota Wild fan, I'm told.

I'd be 'meh' on Modano returning to Minnesota. Certainly isn't ideal but I'm not going to be up in arms about it either.

why the hell not for minny its not like we are going anywhere for while

it would at least be a fun story and if he's okay with a 3rd line role its really not a huge drag on the roster.

also takes away a spot for couple of our prospects, and adds salary. we have.. if im not mistaken, roughly 1.5-2mill? in space if PMB returns or maybe even less. Point is, id rather us pass on the 40 year old, and let Wellman, Sheppard, Almond fight for that spot.

But hey, if Fletcher thinks its worth it on a 1 year deal for no more than a million, and have space for PMB possibly comming back im all for it.

But why does salary matter if it's a one year deal and we're not going to contend for the Cup next year? Also, I'd rather our prospects get a substantial role in the AHL than a minimal role in the NHL.

I could say plenty about the city of Detroit but I'll take the high road and be a gentleman right now.

Last time I checked you don't need to live in Detroit to play there.

But hey, at least you didn't go "there".

I took the comment as an unnecessary shot at the Wild. The only thing that rat hole town has going for it is the Wings. Guess I decided to "go there".

Id take Modano over Sheppard any day of the week. Wellman is gonna start the year in Houston to get him key minutes for his development because thats the best spot for him instead of spending time in the bottom 6. Almond is in the same spot unless something big happens hes also going to be in Houston to start the year and if its like last year he will be called up and contribute that way. Sheppard has to earn his spot on this team and the more competition he has the better.

Wellman and Sheppard aren't ready for a role yet in the NHL. It would be a very good depth signing for us to have a cheap veteran center. Koivu, Cullen, Modano, Brodziak is a good group of centermen. I would be pleased if we got Modano but wouldn't break my heart either if he didn't come.

Just a thought though, what number would he take if he joined either the Wild or Wings with 9 not available? 19 in Minny? Have no idea what would be available for him in Detroit

He should either retire or go to the Wild.

Good thing Modano doesn't have to worry about living in that "rat hole" town to play for the Wings if he signs now does he?

Funny how that works. Also your implication doesn't make you any more of a gentleman than the poster you initially responded to.

Those of us who were around when the North Stars left remember your comments, Mike. We don't want you, we don't need you and we'd rather not bother with you.

Please.... Someone else sign him, or someone convince him to retire. I want nothing to do with this guy....
Can I get some insight on this?

I thought that he said he'd be interested in playing for any team in the pacific when it was first announced that he wouldn't return to Dallas? SJ seems like a good fit for him. Veterans usually do well and enjoy it there (JR). Plus if Wallin can get 2.5 for being a bottom pairing defenseman, a 3rd line center can't be too far off right? Lol just messin SJ fans. He should just retire, but SJ does seem like a good fit. I'd hate it because modano always seems to kill the Ducks, but why would he go to a non contending Minnesota team? You would think he'd want to go to a contender this late in his career.

Well at least Detroit is where players go to finish off their careers. I think they haven't met their quota yet for guys over 40 since Chelios left.

I don't get how people see the story line of Modano going back to the wild yet they don't see a better storyline in detroit, Modanos homestate.
