For $2 million? GREAT DEAL.

Waiving Gagne gives them $3+ million to spend on Turco. Sounds like a good plan to me which I would gladly take.

In all honesty if he has a great year this deal will be considered a huge steal. I don't see how anyone could complain about this.

Good price, I still don't want to see Gagne go though.

“What prevents him from being a two-player is not that he can’t do it, it’s the stuff off the ice,” the source said, adding the Flyers have a track record of taking chances on players they feel they can convert. “That is the gamble they are taking here. If they straighten him out off the ice, keep him focused on hockey, he can be a game-breaker.”
Quote:
“There are some players who don’t need the buddy system, like Pavel Datsyuk, but others need that Russian buddy to affiliate with,” said Russian journalist Dmitry Chesnokov, who knows most of the NHL’s Russian players on an intimate level, but admits he doesn’t know Zherdev as well.

“He needs to be with friends …and he could not do it with Fedorov. Fedorov was a different breed. He was old school. He was one of the tough, top guys, very smart, very educated, very articulate. That was not something Zherdev was looking for.

“When [Evgeni] Malkin came over, it wasn’t just [Sergei] Gonchar, but the Penguins hired someone to look after Malkin. The Flyers need to bring in someone for Zherdev.”

The Flyers have a poor track record with Russian players. Even the ones they get here don’t last very long - Alexei Zhamnov, Vladimir Malakhov, Danny Markov, and Dmitry Afanasenkov being more recent examples.

If would be foolish for the Flyers to think Zherdev can flourish here without a fellow Russian on the roster.

I want no part of a 3M+ Turco. Hell, even Mason went at 1.85M.

actually I was commenting on someone saying he'd score five goals

the guy can't play hockey for ****, and if he's a regular he'll hinder the teams ability to roll four lines

When you guys let go of your feelings for the pre lock out Simon Gagne, you'll see he's the right choice to go.

well . . . we were also playing Carbombs, Asham, Pronger, Hartnell, Lappy, etc. . . . so we didn't really have a heavy weight, but we had PLENTY of guys who would throw with anyone and our Heavy is probably the worst player in the entire NHL.

players who stick up for team mates like you named>>>>a fourth line slug who plays a handful of minutes a night only to fight another slug from the other team

It's a good deal, but where did this crap about waiving Gagne come from? Does he have zero value or something? What is the incentive for us to rid ourselves of Gagne by waivers rather than getting any kind of picks back?

Drop Shelley, sign Dolph Lundgren. Problem solved, he has his buddy and we have our enforcer.

Not necessary at all. Especially since we could have just kept guys like Asham and Carcillo.

113 goals in 5 seasons prior to the lockout.
146 goals in 5 seasons since the lockout.

Really unclear to me what you're talking about here.
