In an effort to squash whatever Bobby Ryan trade rumours still exist. Ducks gm, Bob Murray wants the spec to end. He's not trading Ryan.

They're just going to put him on waivers then Dreger?

In all seriousness, they'll come to some sort of deal in Anaheim soon enough.

So, are we headed for the old-fashioned and dreaded holdout scenario? Not that an RFA is technically holding out, but you get the gist.

I never believed they would trade him. It makes no sense.

As far as the Leafs are concerned, I'm sure Murray would be happy to pawn off Lupul and something else for Kaberle, but certainly not Ryan.

I look forward to hearing such a theory.

It was a joke. Jeez.

Regardless, Gagne is not going to get waived either. The entire premise is laughable. The odds of Ryan getting traded are actually far better than Gagne actually getting waived.

And right now, as players, Bobby Ryan and Simon Gagne are probably about equal. The thing that makes Bobby Ryan more valuable than Gagne are his age and contract.

I don't think Gagne would be waived either in all honesty. Someone would at the very least give up a high pick and solid prospect for him.

Awesome. The only thing that still worries me is an offer sheet from LA.

At first I was all for a deal centered around Ryan and Staal, but now I don't like the idea. The reason is because the Ducks prospect pool on defense is pretty stacked, where as we are pretty thin at forwards. Fowler, Sbisa, Gardner, Mitera, and Mikkelson make up a pretty good future defense corps.

Man for real. Ryan and Brown on the same team would be pretty scary.

LA would be stupid to sign a RFA because next off-season they have to sign Doughty, Johnson, and Simmonds.

Dreger's tweet was meant just for Ryan's Agent by Murray.

It's no secret that Ryan wants to come East.

Good. Frick. It took Dreger to point that out to clueless fans on here?

You think Gagne is equal to Ryan? Not even close in my opinion. Gagne only has 1 year left at around the same number Ryan will get.

RIGHT NOW SIMON GAGNE WILL BE ABOUT AS VALUABLE TO AN ORGANIZATION ON THE ICE AS BOBBY RYAN.

Gagne is a talented two-way 1st line winger with great defensive play and the capability of putting up 35-70 fairly easily.

So yes, on the ice, Gagne right now is as valuable if not more so than Ryan as he continues to develop.

That said, Ryan's best years are ahead of him despite whatever contract he comes out of this offseason with.

I don't know why it's hard for people to understand.

Yes, their market value is different, but their on-ice production/product/whatever you want to call it for next year is basically the same.
