Isles don't need another 'young guy to help grow with their young core'.
No thanks. We'll keep letting Streit eat a lot of minutes and mentor the kids.
and thats what he does too, When Gervais played with him he was much better, though he seems to regress with anyone else. Hillen actually turned a corner after that stint with Streit,
in a way its a shame that we dont trade him to LA with all the highly drafted Defensemen they have, if they had Mark to mentor them, they would be sitting pretty..... guess thats why they want him, but they'll have to find their own
Proposing that the Islanders give up one of their only experienced and salalried to any real degree players makes no sense. They can't do this even if they wanted to and make the cap floor.
But more importantly they wouldn't do this even if it was possible for them. They just drafted Streit's countryman in Niederreiter who keeps talking about playing with Streit as one of the best things about hopefully playing in NY.

Not going to comment on his value since I don't watch the guy though.
The Islanders are already alot younger of a team than most fans seem to realize. Just because there are a couple of guys who are older, a few guys who are 39 and 34 bump up the average age but you have to look at that team and realize how young they are. This team needs everything about Streit, I don't think people see how important he is to the Islanders. They all lean on this guy throughout every game.
