lol, I meant the link where Sauve says Montreal is one possible destination for Gagne. You know, I was born in that same city, four houses away from Sauve.
The reasoning behind it is so that the Flyers can drop salary and not take on salary equal to his. If we were going to pursue him we'd have to give close to equal salary in return so I don't think the Flyers would be interested in doing this.
I'm also not sure how interested Dallas would be considering they already have Benn, Morrow, Neal, Ott, and Eriksson who are all natural left wingers.
Tampa seems like it would be a very logical destination but I'd say LA is definitely the front runner as they have both the cap space and the assets the Flyers desire in a goalie. If they're interested in him the only thing holding them back is Kovalchuk's decision.
i think gagner hates mtl.. nordikkks fan or wtv. hes not worth the troublle imo, wed have to buy out harmlik or something... **** that, moilte moilte moilte

Gagne did grow up a Nordiques fan, but he is a professional athlete and he probably likes the idea of playing in his home province (if it is true he would consider a trade there). You can see plenty of athletes playing for teams they probably disliked as a kid, but they're grown ups now and make mature decisions.
But your right, Montreal would have to move some salary, but I don't feel like it would be Hamrlik.
Flyers wouldn't take AK in return since they apparently want to shed salary for another move ?
So, we can't take Gagné, unless we dump Hamrlik somewhere.
We could "dump" AK elsewhere (for a pick or three). I think Gagne could then be mate to fit (especially for just one year), but it depends so much on what Price is asking.
It doesn't matter who he cheered for when he was younger. When you get traded to a team you automatically become its biggest fan. If I was traded to the Leafs i'd probably love them all of a sudden, even if it goes against everything in me.

Exactly it's a business and say if a team like the leafs traded for me, I'd be just as excited because it's at least a team with a lot of history/fans and quite frankly even though I hate the leafs, it would still be an honor to wear any original 6 teams jersey. If the management saw something in me they wanted to trade for, it's a question of respect imo. Most players aren't that petty. Cammalleri was a leafs fan and he chose to sign here even though I think Burke offered more money/similar terms.
I'm not sure but wasn't Subban a leafs fan too? It doesn't matter once you become a professional hockey player.

Nope, Subban was a Torontonian born with a little bit of class; he and his family are Habs fans.
I think Gagne is a good fit for us if we can send Andrei K packing for a pick or prospect somewhere else. As long as Price signs in the 2-2.5M area we would have the cap room to absorb the extra 2M for Gagne.
All that being said though, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him end up with the Leafs. Burke has been making a habbit of picking up on these buy-low type deals. Given their cap structure in Philly, a simple swap of Kulemin plus a pick or a decent prospect should get the deal done.
Gagne is a 5.25 cap hit on the last year of his contract. I would not give up AK for him. Philly needs to dump salary and so would the Habs if they acquired him.
Montreal and Philly DO NOT make good trading partners!

What a beautifully fitting username ...
I'd love to swap Kostitsyn for Gagne but that won't happen.
