One thing is for sure ; if Montreal does get him, the following will happen.
-RDS headquarters will blow up.
-La Presse headquarters will blow up.
-Le Journal de Montreal headquarters will blow up.
- l'Attaque a Cinq will spontaneously combust.
And somewhere in Montreal, wherever he may be, Benoit Brunet will cream his pants.
5 games into the season, Gagne will get hurt and all the French media that exploded will then turn their joy into hate, bash Gagne the whole time and Gagne will have played his last season in Montreal before signing somewhere else and bashing Montreal on his way out.

Which is exactly my point. I re-call, in another thread, that I said this reminds me way too much of when the Habs traded to get Tanguay. HUGE hype, little pay-off. Although in my opinion, Gagne is a better player then Tanguay, the risk of him getting injured is just way too high.

I'm a huge Gagne fan (I was a huge Tanguay fan) but I don't know if I wanna see him with a CH. We know how easily he could get injured and we know how bad the fanbase and media is to players (especially if they are French)... I'd be happy if we trade him... but man, I know it wouldn't be a good combo.

An injured francophone + french media hype is as bad a combo as the time I tried to make a peanut-butter sandwich with cheese on it.
It doesn't matter who he cheered for when he was younger. When you get traded to a team you automatically become its biggest fan. If I was traded to the Leafs i'd probably love them all of a sudden, even if it goes against everything in me.
Exacly, just look at Begin... all time habs lover, but when he got traded to boston, he put that love on hold.
On one side Gagne can do awsome things on the ice, but I'm concerned he's injury pron / 1 concussion away from pulling a lindros
How do you figure? Arent we already going to be really close to the cap? Adding $2M if it dosent take us over the cap would pretty much remove any wiggle room during the season.

Hence why we went the youth-only way. Most of our young'guns are super cheap and allow the team to pick up 5m dollar talent with some degree of flexibility. We have nearly 6m for both Lapierre (1.5m tops) and Price (2.5m tops) that 2m free AT THE LEAST + AKost's 3.25 (=5.25, Gagne's cap hit).
Look at this line up and tell me it doesn't make you wanna hug Pierre Gauthier's skeletor ass.

That is a solid lineup...although if we can keep Kostitsyn as well it's even better.

How is this thread not closed? This isn't a reliable source.
Good point that the source isn't valid here. But aside from that, there is ample speculation around the league that Gagne is going to move, and it's probably natural/inevitable that we have some kind of thread going on the potential for him to come to Montreal...
