OT but have the Sens' still not made an official announcement about signing Wick? Just find it odd that I never saw a press release about it, but they wasted no time announcing this.

Great move for the B-Sen, it should be very exciting to follow the team with the influx of young talent coming in this season. I'm pretty optimistic that they are going to make the playoffs this year, and the organization can start building the winning attitude from the ground up.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that there was something about July 15th. I don't know if that is a requirement of his opt out clause of Swiss league contract or anything else or nothing to do with this whatsoever, I just remember July 15th for some reason.

Not so sure about that. An apple to apple comparison in the AHL shows Shannon had the following in 2005-06:

71 Games 27 Goals 59 Assists 86 points.

Last year for Locke:

76 Games 31 Goals 54 Assists 85 points

In his very few games in the NHL he is pointless.

K-Daugs-Locke-Keller
Cowick-Greening-Wick
???-Bass-Butler
Bailey-O'Brien-Condra

Gryba-Wirecioch
D.Smith-Schira
Kinrade - ????

Lehner
Brodeur

wow, that's some sick depht. This team could finally do some damage. Even goaltending and defense looks great.

Personally, i'd have Bass on the 4th line and Condra on the 3rd, who had decent production for a rookie last year. He is way better offensively than Bass... There's also the guy (Durzincky or something like that)

And, for the record, Locke is good signing.

To be fair, shannons superior skating has gotten him some points. When i meant offense...i meant offensive skills. like shooting, passing, deking. Basically like on a powerplay. Locke's skating holds him up from getting more points.

i think there is a wick thread somewhere around here started by a swiss poster. A few articles from german language news sources were posted, and then one in french seemed to indicate that wick had an out clause UNTIL July 15th. Maybe the paper was mistaken and the clause starts july 15th.

Good signing replaces St. Pierre that was a big hole in Bingo.

250K? I didn't think salaries were that good in the AHL.

He was making $275k last year. That's the cost of a top talent in the AHL. St. Pierre made $250, Hamel was $100k last year. But listening to only the Bingo whiners you'd would not be blamed for thinking the Murrays never invested a dime in veteran AHL talent.

yeah, i just though that ahl salaries were around 50-90k a season, just like an average job. i can see why being a career ahl player isn't so bad.

Generally, the bottom-level AHLers and NHL prospects make around that. For instance, Karlsson would make 65k in the AHL, and Jason Bailey makes around 40k. But as far as top AHL players are concerned, 250k is a very normal number for a #1 career AHL centre. Martin St. Pierre also made 250k last year.

Does this guy have any shot of making the NHL, or is this purely a bingo move?

and from that link:
Quote:
according to that, the sens have 5 days to sign wick.

He was signed expressly for Bingo just as Martin St. Pierre was last offseason. There's always the chance he gets a callup at some point if they require a scoring centre to fill in for an injury but he's never been able to crack an NHL lineup up to this point in his career so it's highly unlikely he would now.

I think he has a decent chance of getting a couple of games in.

Spezza normally misses a couple of games and Fisher is due for another major injury again.

Now that he is married to Carrie, I bet his groin starts acting up again!

Finally the Sens make up for the Hossa-Zultek fiasco and get a '67 in the organization.

I don't think it's likely he will play in Ottawa though if he gets one of those quarter million ahl contracts. Perhaps someone that has dared wade through the lawyered to death cba monstrosity could confirm, but there was a time that any ahl'er that made over something like $75k a year had to go through waivers to be called up or something. I know the AHL players appealed it, but i dont know where is stands now. It might prevent him playing for us though.

He's pretty much a Locke to just stay in Bingo.

Wick wasn't at the development camp playing, unless you mean he was in Ottawa during the time.
