On paper this could be a pretty good team. Skill-wise it's better than last year even without Arnott. Faster, younger, more potential. Defense might be shaky, but if there's one thing the Preds have gotten down over the years it's team defense.

No they haven't. It's why Legwand has been thrust/most trusted in a shutdown role. It's also why they were especially vulnerable to backdoor plays due to forwards not coming down enough to help out.
Nashville certainly has a few forwards that are very good defensively (Legwand and Smithson the two primary forwards). Other forwards are good on the PK (like Sullivan and Erat), but are not great ES defensively. If you want to see great
team defense, look at last year's Chicago team. Toews, Sharp and Hossa are forwards that are equally as great defensively as they are offensively.
