There's no way Gagné is traded here. We don't have enough cap room and I don't see the Flyers taking Hamrlik or Spacek for him. LA can make them a much better offer, especially since they'll want to make up for (probably) not signing Kovalchuk. Plus he's super injury prone, and with all the injuries we've had last year, we don't need to have another 50-games player.
Too lazy to read through the thread, but if you're citing the RDS blog for Gagné to potentially be moved to the habs, then this should really be locked, as the RDS blogs are ******** and a lot of the people who post them are idiotic and I only comprehend some French, imagine how lowly I'd consider their hockey intelligence if I could understand all of their blog.
One thing is for sure ; if Montreal does get him, the following will happen.
-RDS headquarters will blow up.
-La Presse headquarters will blow up.
-Le Journal de Montreal headquarters will blow up.
- l'Attaque a Cinq will spontaneously combust.
And somewhere in Montreal, wherever he may be, Benoit Brunet will cream his pants.
5 games into the season, Gagne will get hurt and all the French media that exploded will then turn their joy into hate, bash Gagne the whole time and Gagne will have played his last season in Montreal before signing somewhere else and bashing Montreal on his way out.
Everyone on L'attaque à cinq would make this face
Selon RDS Simon Gagné à echangé aux canadiens....
...Pour Louis Leblanc, Gabriel Dumont, Maxim Lapierre, Benoit Pouliot et P.K. Subban.
I don't believe Gagne is coming to the Habs. Frankly, the Habs don't need him, and there are reasons for not wanting him (age, injuries, left handed shot (the Habs desperately need wings who shoot right), salary, and lack of interest in playing in Montréal.
Personally I don;t want Gagne neither. I just have a feeling about Tanguay 2.0 where he's a one year oft injured rental.
Tanguay and Gagne are not in the same categories. One is a soft whiney punk who rode the coattails of Sakic and Forsberg and refuses to shoot the puck the other is a hard-nosed two-way player who played infront of furious fans and could score at will.
For the LAST time, he had two terribly unlucky injures in the past three seasons along with the usual breaks and bruises: one major concussion that took him out twice and a sports hernia (which could happen to any athlete). Surgery fixed the hernia. He broke his foot before the playoffs but came back and single-handedly lifted his team past Boston.
Gagne is something that this team absolutely needs. But the more I think of it, the more I'm sure he's not coming.
Nope, Subban was a Torontonian born with a little bit of class; he and his family are Habs fans.
I think Gagne is a good fit for us if we can send Andrei K packing for a pick or prospect somewhere else. As long as Price signs in the 2-2.5M area we would have the cap room to absorb the extra 2M for Gagne.
All that being said though, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him end up with the Leafs. Burke has been making a habbit of picking up on these buy-low type deals. Given their cap structure in Philly, a simple swap of Kulemin plus a pick or a decent prospect should get the deal done.
The Subban's have a lot of class since i have known PK and his family since he was 4 years old...but he would be happy and proud to have been picked by any NHL team in the draft and his Family would be wearing Tampa, Florida, Leafs, Oilers sweaters if he was drafted to them..... I think the Kadri clan have put away thier Habs sweaters and bought new Leaf sweaters!!!!
I saw some clip somewhere....Kadri's dad a long time hab's fan in now a Leaf's fan...go figure!

An injured francophone + french media hype is as bad a combo as the time I tried to make a peanut-butter sandwich with cheese on it.
There's alot fo pressure on french players because they HAVE to talk after every practice/game and because they can talk to the francophones. MAB was playing 5 mins per game yet he was always interviewed... Alot of french journalists struggle in english and most of the province can't even have a good conversation in the language of shakespear.. If we would have most of the team filled with francophones I swear we wouldn't be talking about this god damn pressure. RDS (and most french medias) jump on the frenchies and put pressure on them to deliver and explain to the people what happened or why they lost.. That's why french canadians don't wanna play here... Hopefully Québec's team will understand it
If you were keeping up with Gagne you would remember that he isn't anxious to come to Montréal. ithout an extension, he wouldflip after one season. AND, the Habs don't need a concussed player who could miss a large part of the season while collecting his salary.
