Outdoor game in Hartford in 2011?

http://www.courant.com/sports/hockey...,7925022.story

"There will be no active NHL games at Rentschler, such as the Winter Classic. Maybe the Wolf Pack. The specifics will be announced next week at a press conference."

They say it will be HS to Professional, but it didn't indicate AHL. I'm pretty sure UConn will be playing there, but I'm not sure if it will be the Wolf Pack. In fact, I'm not sure the Wolf Pack will be the Wolf Pack when the season starts.

There is a movement to bring the Whalers back.... If Howard Baldwin can get ownership of the franchise, which he is trying to do. Don't be shocked if the Connecticut Whalers hit the ice come October.

under whose ownership----doesn't MSG own the franchise and it's a bit late to be announcing a franchise sale for October 2011...

Its never too late to sell, just to move..... It is not moving, just a name change, IF, and that is a BIG IF, this happens.

Aren't the Whalers a retired name? I thought you couldn't use a retired name. IE: North Stars...

But then again, Ottawa did... hm...

You can. North Stars wasn't used because the current North Stars franchised has been reduced to simply the "Stars" as in the Dallas Stars. The Hartford Whalers are owned by the city of Hartford (or were), maybe that guy wildcat said owns them now. At any rate, it's perfectly possible.

I'm working for Whalers Sports right now. I can't say much under the condition of anonymity but I will say that there is going to be a lot of great hockey at Rentschler, of all levels.
