Flyers sign Dan Carcillo to 1-year deal worth $1.075 mill

http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=534298

Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6’0’’, 205-pound left wing Dan Carcillo to a one-year contract, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

“We are happy to have Dan under contract for the 2010-11 season,” said Holmgren.

Carcillo, 25, recorded 22 points (12G,10A) and 207 penalty minutes in 76 regular season games with the Flyers this past season. He led the team in hits (194) and his 207 penalty minutes also led the Flyers and ranked fourth in the NHL. He also became the first player, alongside Boston Bruins’ forward Shawn Thornton, to be assessed a fighting major in the NHL’s Winter Classic, on Jan. 1, 2010.

In the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he recorded six points (2G,4A) and 34 penalty minutes in 17 games to help lead the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Final, and scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Flyers a 3-2 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals vs. New Jersey on Apr. 18.
Thoughts?

Looks like Zherdev is not wearing #13 this season.

Wow, article also says Carcillo was selected in 2003 at 73 overall by the PENGUINS. WHAT? How did I miss that? Lol.

Quote:
A day after he was spotted in the halls of the Flyers’ practice facility in Voorhees, N.J., Dan Carcillo signed a one-year, $1.075 million deal that will keep him in Philadelphia.

“We are happy to have Dan under contract for the 2010-11 season,” said general manager Paul Holmgren.

Carcillo, 25, was a late addition to the list of players that had filed for arbitration July 6, according to the NHLPA. Had he and the Flyers not reached an agreement by July 20, the two sides would have headed to Toronto for the league’s salary arbitration hearings.

Homer has offically forgotten that there is a salary cap.

This also means that Carcillo is on our top 9. Sighhhhhh

(or Jody Shelly is on our top 9)

Either way this totally blows.

His QO was 940k, so that is the minimum he can sign for,.

Hopefully it isn't much more than that

Sbaicker says 1.075. Carcillo officially makes less than Jody Shelley

I was gonna guess 1.1, so 1.075 makes sense.

Good Deal for both parties. Glad to see Carcillo coming back. Upset to see Shelly on the payroll.

Every one of these deals brings the Flyers one step closer to losing a valuable player off the roster to accommodate them.

Fantastic job, Homer. Great. Just freakin' peachy.

1.075 is a great deal, but the Flyers are spending money they don't have. Now everyone knows they are over the cap and will keep low balling them.

Not bad value, shockingly, doesn't really excuse the other retardation, but Carcillo isn't a bad guy to have around.

This deal gives us a 22 player roster that is $1.81 mill over the cap.

Move Gagne and replace his roster spot with Powe at $1 and we go to $2.4 under.

That means you can waive Boucher and get Turco for $3 and still have space.
