If this is true then he should get him signed. It's no secret that Ryan and the Ducks are not on good terms and he wants maximum dollars even if it means a trade. I think it ste,s from keeping him in the AHL for half of last year for cap reasons.
Leafs get the truculence they need on the backend for an unproven wimpy forward who hasn't played 2 games in the NHL.
My thoughts exactly. Kaberle has played about 650 NHL games more than Ryan. Festerling only has 81 games more than Kadri, but he has barely played in the NHL yet, so the experience differance is about the same. Not to mention that with Festerling in their lineup, they could entice his twinbrother Garrett to sign with them too.
Obviously the circumstances are unique, but this may be the same idle posturing we heard from Ottawa, about Heatley. I believe it was the owner that was saying, 'I'll always be a billionaire(millionaire?) but Heatley will never always be a hockey player', something like that. Then he actually gets traded and they even take an embarrassment of a salary dump in Cheechoo back, along with a 2nd-line speedy man in Michalek.
Ryan has yet to sign a contract, so an other team will have the ability ot negotiate term and dollars, but the fact he's RFA may mae susceptible to offer sheets, which we haven't seen yet, however.
I guess my point is that this may in fact just be a passive manipulation of the market, rather than a sure thing. I still suspect then, that a trade is still an option.
