Is the "men in black" so familiar that you could just do the "men in blue" and everyone would know the reference? Just a thought. It would help make it not as cluttered, with all the words.

What about using a dark blue as the background instead of black? And making an alternate color in yellow?

I don't know if any of these ideas work artistically.

Great stuff...
was sticking with the "black and blue" theme that they had for the 3rds this year.

A small contribution I could maybe make if you want to use these, I was fooling around on Photoshop.

It's actually a really cool idea: the tricky part is finding images of all the guys in third jerseys.
This is really cool!

Sometimes the "negative mojo" works! We say first round exit, and it is the year they prove us wrong. Sounds about right.

Here is something a put together in Photoshop this morning. I like the idea, and if any of y'all can think of some more ideas for it I'll try them out.

It is really big, I know. But I only did that so it would be a little easier to see and work on. I'll resize them for avatar dimensions later.

Edit: Trotz

I've been thinking about this for a few days, but have no artistic ability...so if someone thinks it's worthy, take it and run...if not, I won't be offended...

What about a theme revolving around Ozzy Osbourne's song, "Not Going Away"?

For me this summer it has really conjured up images of our team learning and growing from last season and coming back stronger than ever before. It puts the rest of the league on notice to beware the Preds and just serves notice..."We're not going away!"

Thoughts?

That's a pretty cool idea. Maybe change it up to be more in line with the new film (which I'm guessing was your inspiration?).

The other thing you may have trouble with is the image standards. They're pretty stringent here on HF (I guess because of the high volume of traffic), and resizing those not for dimensions, but file size, could be tricky because you're using three slides instead of two.

If I can ever find that damn Photoshop disc, I'll whip up some samples based on that idea. I've been meaning to get to work on some of these anyway.

Sounds good!

And yeah, these were really just concepts I made this morning. I'll try to resize them to the standards if I can, even changing up the first two slides if I can.

Here is the link to the Predator font for anyone interested: http://www.fontspace.com/giedi-prime/predator

Okay, having finally gotten Photoshop back up and running, here are a couple of concepts based on DownInAHole's idea:

That would also be helped by the image compression process, which would blur the colors and make it look like the players are actually giving off heat. Now THAT would be awesome.

Your avatars are awesome. I just think the idea is too simpleminded. We can do better than that. Just MHO.

What ever you do, make sure you have an Andersson one for me that has the Jonas brothers on it should he score 20 goals...

Anyways, I was thinking instead of just doing something "Predator" related we try something a little more original. The iPred design was absolutely amazing and we need to try to up that.

Granted, I just finished reading Macbeth again, but I would love to see an avatar with Shea Weber that says "bloody, bold, and resolute" on it.

Can't remember where i found this, probably seen it before i imagine anyway, but it definitely gets my vote. The team should just change their official logo to this imo

The thing is, those iPred avatars were an absolute bear to make because I had to cut the players out of the images by hand with the eraser tool. It would take me three hours to make an avatar that would eventually go unused, and I'd rather not do that again. With the three themes on the table, I could probably finish the roster players by the end of the week. The Sharks did an avatar theme based on Jaws last year, and have a line of prospect avatars for the off-season. They're simple and streamlined, and Nemesis can pour them out by the bucketload. That's what I'm going for with this year's line, since I'm not going to have nearly as much free time as I did last season to just piddle around with avatars.

I've done some tweaking to the MIB&B theme, and the Predators theme:

If there are no more suggestions on lines, I'll make a poll in the morning and let the masses decided on this year's theme.

The quality on the MIB&B one is superb, Predators one seems a little JPG artifact-y/mspaint bitmap-y

The only problem I can imagine with the Predators one, is that its just plain too obvious. Its a too overdone joke, running gag, etc. Kinda like if next season all the avatars are Chris Hanson from MSNBC, its a joke thats been done by every large and small name blogger since November 1997.

Just my 2 cents.
