I'd prefer somebody with a bit of size like Mayers or Asham.
Mayers sucks.
It's not just about size, it's how you use it.
Like I've stated, Richards, Morrow, and Brown are all 5'11, or 5'10 and they're tough as nails. The league leader in hits is Clutterbuck, who is 5'11 iirc.
Eric Belanger is exactly who we need. Remember when he got a tooth knocked out against us in the playoffs and continued to play. I think got a puck in the face. Does anyone know how much he made last season?
But the title of this thread should read "The once rugged winger we need". Tucker sucks.
My wishlist include Nolan, Torres, Asham, Modin and Bergenheim these plyaer would bring nice two-way play, physicality, energy and scoring in our bottom six.
If Asham had to skate on a line with Boyd he'd be gassed before the end of the first. This guy is SLOOOOOW. With Gui gone there's no one on this team he could keep up with.

Mayers is big, plays physical, skill skates well even at 35 and is a very good faceoff man. Not sure how that means that he sucks?

35 hits in 44 games with the leafs is physical ? He did have 34 in 27 games with the Flames, but Kotalik had the same in 1 fewer game. He wasn't even a regular with the leafs, a team that finished 2nd last, but he's a regular for us ? I'll give you his faceoffs, but he's not a very good skater, he can't really fight, he's offensively challenged and would take a spot away from the young guys.

Do you actually think the hit stat is viable? Don't all arenas have diffrent idea of what a hit is?
Some players hit, but I don`t find they play physical.
I'm not sure what Gauthier is going to do but I do like Asham, he hits, he fights and is underrated offensively. The thing is, does he want to come back to MTL?
