The "Twice through the grinds" layering is awesome. Almost lets you cell-shade a picture (and smooth it out).
I took my own request (holly cote) as example, trippled the picture size (all kinds of jpeg noise) and ran it through a de-jpg filter first.
Then ran it through "Smooth and Flat" once
And then again.
Pretty neat, eh?

I'm still learning how to 'scratch and smudge' the black/white noise ala NHL10 over the pictures, so this is the best I can do on short notice:
